There are VERY FEW gas stations to deviate to. And Stovepipe Wells only has 87 octane if that bothers you.

One of the most popular NooB rides is to the Hot Springs. 140 miles round trip... Mengal Pass / Goler Loop first fuel option at Furnace Creek over 120 miles.. Bring the big tank.

Other NooBs should be researching how to carry fuel. Keeps your riding options open. Know what your bike can do on a tank of fuel IN THE SAND !

Dromedary Bags
Starbucks Large coffee box/bags
Liter bottles / Gallon bottles.

They all have there advantages and disadvantages.

nothing to worry todd. got this one figure out. birkenstock, patagonia, prius, asian with a camera...how can they think differently?.....

i'm more concerned about 20 riders hauling ass with dust clouds in their wake, roosting motorists and get stopped without passes to show.

then there will be PPs posting pics and vids on the ride report that they did 90 mph while inside DV.

my favorite is seeing PPs posting pics while riding in the wilderness area or places that they should not be.

yep, the kiosk is the best place to get the park pass. i may have to go around the building change shirts, then get a few more, repeat....

the one in stovepipe is next to the ranger's office. we've used the machine and gone inside when it was broke. they never said anything since most of us were on big bikes and we looked noobish (more like tourists). it will be a different flavor if 20+ riders with pants itb, mx helmets and jersey, bikes with racing numbers, loud pipes and roll charts.

seriously folks, the NPS is on alert regarding activities that violates the park rules. so, do your best behavior, be discreet and polite to motorist, hikers and fellow motorcyclists. it's all about sharing.

do some reading, post up if you see something that we can be in trouble or jeopardize the future of the DVNR.

Also try out your selected fuel carry method BEFORE you get to DV and you end up like WildChild and lose your extra gallon of gas 15 miles into the ride.

If you need to stock up on outdoor gear, REI just released a 20% off coupon. The timing is nice, get a good deal now instead of waiting for the 20% off coupon that comes out end of March for the dividend.

Head lamps, MSR bottles or bladders to carry extra gas (though Primus bottles are bigger), camping gear, etc.

Quote:
REI is offering 20% off one full-price item with coupon code 126TAKE20 [Exp 3/9]. Applies to highest-priced eligible item. Free site to store shipping or free shipping with a $50 purchase.
