Can I ask for a recommendation? Use the stock tires to get to Pahrump and then swap to the dirt tires? Are the 606/MT21s gonna be any good in Death Valley?

Thanks!!!

Mark
I have been happy with that combo, as I used to run MT21 front and MT43 rear on my WR250R. I would get 3k to 4k mi out of the front MT21, and around 2.5k mi on the rear MT43. I have run a set of DR606 for 5k miles on my DR650 before (about 2k of pavement and 3k of dirt, a 3 week CDT ride). The D606 setup is a good one too for DV.

Carrying spare tires on the bike is a royal PITA, guaranteed. You could run them to Pahrump, do DV, and ride back. Just air them up to 25-30 psi for pavement. Recommend pressures in DV are usually no lower then 18-20 psi, as people the pressures higher to avoid flats/rim dents from hidden rocks.

Those that run the MT43, highest recommended pressure for dirt AND road is 10 psi...it's a DOT trials tire, so it's different, but 10 psi will get you almost 3k miles of mixed used. Higher then that and it will wear quicker.

Hmm.. yeah, it's a KLX250S..

the tires are almost new (couple hundred miles + some dirt)

I went to Scott's performance last year after the rally and told them what was happening. The guy said to try out a more aggressive dirt tire that he had the same experience with the mt21 tire washing out. Everyone has different opinions about tires and I can only speak from experience that I noticed a huge difference with the Perelli XCMH. My buddy had mt 16 on his Klx and had good things to say about it. The rally is only once a year so bring a fresh pair and don't worry about burning them up at DV, it will be me less thing to worry about out there.

Hmm, thanks... maybe I will just skip the PITA and just ride the MT21/606s right to DV... they are almost new now so...

+1

The XCMH is one of the very best for cornering grip!

Death Valley has exactly zero hill climbs so the rear tire is just not that important....

Small bike XCMH front
Medium Bike 908 front
Big Bike 606 front

tires and opinions ...

might as well jump in here. I put the new Scorpion Pro's on my 525 as a test pilot and rode the Desert Dash a couple of weeks ago. I was very impressed in all conditions; rocks, hard pack, sand, gravel. Might be a little soft for most of the DV terrain but they worked for me at 18-20 psi. One of the better biting front tires I've tried so far on my little girls bike.

Ersin,

I'd take site #72 if possible, sent you a PM also.

Thanks,

SP

in post #4 ( the first part of it)
it appears to me that Ersin has already started a list of which campsite people will be in using #1 through # 73

I will advise ignoring that there are 71 campsites in the photo of the campsite and 73 campsites in the other campsite layout diagram
also note that there is not a campsite #13 but there is #14 #14A #14B #14C ( just to add more confusion)

here is the list
copied from post #4:

Here is the campground list. Please check your name and let me know what spot you want. If I dont get your request, I'll just assign you a random spot.

I do recall Joel saying that sites #46 #47 #54 #55 were reserved for volunteers and those sites will also be all or part of party central
AKA dinner/raffle/main campfire sites
so if you have a fear of loud noises or drunkin giants I would try choosing a site that is approprietly distanced from those previously mentioned sites

Seems to work for me, now.

When I signed up, once you register, you had to re-sign in. Then clicking on rides that still have spots, you'll see the 'join' button.

Stop this mayhem!!!
Finally I am back. Sorry for my absence but it was a much needed break. I'll work on my RR soon. Hopefully will be done before DVNR.

You are right Keith. I deleted that 4 spots from the list to prevent more confusion. Also moved Mr. & Mrs. Fzcruiser to next door camp spot. Hope that's OK with you Rob?

I updated all the requests that I was able to see here on the post and my message box. Please take a look at this list and find yourself. If you don't have a spot yet, let me know or else I'll be assigning random spots starting this week.
Thank you for your understanding.

Hi Ersin, since you put this up, can you assign my tent spot in 17 or 18? I foresee plenty of drinking in the evenings, and I am trying to be strategically close to the rest rooms
