Off5icial 2014 Oz Safari RACE COVERAGE thread:

Here is the lead up and race coverage thread to the 2014 Australasian Safari rally in Western Australia this coming September;

http://www.australasiansafari.com.au/website/home.html

Progressively over the next month in the lead up to the race, we will attempt to provide links, stories rumours and interesting information about this iconic Aussie rally, conducted since 1985, the "Oz Safari" as the locals know it is an institution in Australia... in much the same way DAKAR is to Europe of the Baja 1000 is to the USA.

Here on the ADV F5 RACING f5orum channel, there is another thread, hosted by a team of Oz ADV forum members (and an imported Dutchie!), jovially referred to as "the cahns" who will be competing in this years event under the adopted ADV Team name... http://advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=972977 please drop in there and voice your support, theres will be a unique "inside the rally" perspective from the land "down under".

In the meantime and parallel to the "cahns" thread, here we will attempt to creat an antipodean version of a f5irehose like experience for all the f5'ers out there to follow along on the jaunt across Western Australia's fantastic outback, with updates, pic's, youtube clips, insider tips, race results and the usual assortment of rally oriented guff we go on with in here;

I will do my best to give this a push, but interesting comments, input and diverse revelations from other interested parties (both i situ in Oz... and from our global f5 collective) are as always more than welcome.

In anticipation of a great race in september, and on behalf of our good friends at the Australasian safari headquarters in Perth... I wish you all WELCOME!

Ian will also be entered in the Dakar Challenge category at Safari, which hopefully he can win which will assist the RMS team by providing free entry into Dakar.

Thank you Don! Ian will be "down under" getting valuable experience in a race environment. We're doing a good job getting the guys plenty of nav experience here in CA/Nevada. He'll be on the same team as Quinn and that should really give him a chance to get another Dakar vet's tips and tricks. Taking the Dakar Challenge would be nice!

Here's an idea of the nice bikes Don has prepared for the guys:

Meanwhile, Scott Bright will get his "race pace" practice at the 4-day Baja Rally. I'll be there with him with the RMS crew.
