On another note, anyone interested at helping (riding) verifying stages and testing our scoring and safety systems please read:

Hey amigos- We are having a BAJA RALLY shakedown event in Ensenada a week from this friday and we are short handed on qualified test riders. We are looking for top quality, committed riders with GPS experience.

Test riders will follow a GPS track all day on Saturday July 26th from Ensenada. There will be both paved transfer sections and off road dirt sections.

We really need about 6-8 riders total and we are only halfway there at the moment.

The assignment has perks, paid gas from Ensenada Hotel room and dinner friday. Breakfast and dinner Saturday.

*Riders must have bike mounted GPS.
*100 miles fuel range.

If you are interested or know someone who is qualified, please send a PM

La vas a poner en el fais?

Given the talk about how unsuitable an adv bike would be for the terrain...then announcing this class...well...

Scotty, maybe next year a dumbed down route (still challenging but doable) for adv style bikes? Just a thought, it's a ton of time and money and I'd want to know I'd have a realistic chance at finishing the route if I were to make the long trip south.

We could do it, mate. Give me a little chance to pull my bike together and we'll go kick it's ass I'm sure :cheers

Wish I could make it this year- Family is headed to Africa this year over that time period.

Now THAT's funny coming from Deadly99, aka "Mr Doable" and the 8% expected finishers at the RR!

Not many dudes like Radek and Big Wan who can push around a 990 like a 450 on single trail, I suppose. Still there are damn good Heavyweights riders out there, got to get them interested in roadbook rally.

Been getting busy getting my bike prepped. Hope to have plenty of shakedown time before shipping the bike out west.

Looking into what I want to run for tires/mousses. Not much experience with mousses, just ran them the one time I did V2R. Was a pain to mount but now that I have more long tire irons and a stand w/bead breaker I am ready to give it another shot. I used mefo's then but now I see MX1West has more selection of Michelin than MEFOs and they are a bit cheaper.

Was thinking d606 front+rear. I have heard the Michelin mousse sizing doesn't really match other brands. If I buy a 120/90-18 michelin mousse and try to use it in a 120/90-18 D606 is that likely to fit? Or do I need a smaller mousse/larger tire... or do like the enduro guys do and cut some out of the mousse (not crazy about the idea of cutting it).

Doug,
I Run the Dunlop 606 rear 120/90/18 with Michelin ALL the time!
it fits FIT like a glove!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I would NOT run the Dunlop 606 front
I will be running the Dunlop Geomax MX51 front with a BIB

BUt you know???
You can NOW buy Dunlop Bib Mousse
