Bill,

I might be interested in joining you for the Baja Rally. Would like to do Diabolico but that one doesn't look like it will fit my work schedule. Will be in touch once I find if this one is really going to work out or not. Very cool that you are organizing some transport, I keep thinking I live on the wrong side of the country for the types of events I want to ride!!

Registration opens this Sunday December 1st at midnight:
*Fees go up after Jan 1

We're implementing some solid enhancements to our rider experience with improved safety & communications protocol as well as hosted meal catering.

The stages are going to be longer, better and more diverse terrain-wise.

The goal for our team is to get the rider experience closer to the look, feel and value of the DAKAR Rally

I'm committed to making this rally twice as good as the first one in every department.

Oh if I didn't have a baby due right after Sandblast, I'd be all over this. That's an awesome offer BC.

possible copilot here

If I can work out the financial logistics of entries, I hope to do both the Diaboloco and Baja Rally, but I'd likely be staying in the West in between. I work from my laptop, so my travel dates are flexible.

I'd like to head west in early to mid March to get some sand under my tires before Diabolico. Is that anywhere close to what you were thinking?

Any chance a support crew member is needed? I'd be up for pitching in to cut costs and help out as much as possible.

Rally Diabolico Entries open 10 January, 2014

Early Entry Fee (10 January, 2014 - 10 February, 2014):
Moto/Quad: $1950us (per moto)
Car/Truck/UTV: $2150us (per vehicle)
Crew Bivouac Pass (per person): $200

Late Entry (11 February, 2014 - 10 March, 2014):
$200us additional for race Entry
$50us additional for crew Bivouac Pass

Entry will be done using an online entry/registration system, with payment made by credit card at that time.

Paid Entry includes the following:
Four days of racing (if you DNS/DNF a stage, you can still race the next stage).
Bivouac Pass for each competitor (showers and toilets provided).
Breakfast and dinner in the bivouac for each competitor, and dinner at the awards party.
Up to 5 gallons of gas for each moto or quad at the mid-stage gas stop on Stage 2 and Stage 3.
Race Insurance.
Number plate stickers.

Bivouac Pass
Each non-competitor (crew member) will need a Bivouac Pass ($200us), which covers breakfast and dinner, showers, toilets, start/finish access, etc. in the bivouac. The Bivouac Pass also includes the post-race awards dinner and party at the host hotel. Nobody will have access to the bivouac area or awards dinner without a Bivouac Pass.

Location Information
Pre-race registration and a post-race dinner and awards party will be held at a hotel in San Luis Rio Colorado, Mexico, just over the border from Yuma, Arizona. The host hotel (to be announced soon) is just a few minutes from the San Luis border crossing. The bivouac is less than half an hour drive from the host hotel, and it will remain at that location for the full event. Competitors are welcome to stay at the bivouac, the host hotel, or any other place you choose. Since Stage 1 starts at the host hotel, and the post-race awards party will be at the host hotel, for convenience competitors may consider staying at the hotel the night before the race and the night of the awards party, and enjoy the bivouac during the race.

The all dirt remote bivouac is easily accessible by any vehicle, including large motorhomes and vehicles with large trailers.

Additional Information
Car/Truck/UTV race categories and rules are being defined now, and will be announced by January 10th.

A schedule and other details about the rally are available on the RallyDiabolico.com website, check the "Entry" page.

Right now it looks like the most interest from the east guys is Rally Diabolico.

As of now I'm only going to be able to pull it together for the Baja Rally 2.0. Diabolico is just a little too soon and I've still got some bike issues to deal with. But I'm contemplating getting myself to Rally Diabolico for the RMS Nav training the day before and maybe volunteering during the event. Get my feet wet in the sand so to speak.
