I had a feeling that rock was going to be slippery. I think I had too much confidence in that trials tire I was wearing. That ended with a twisted shift lever.

The more I rode the wetter I got. The harder the rain fell down. Soon I was pretty much soaked and kinda fed up with visibility issues; but what really put an end to my adventure was another blown front tire. Drat those darn rocks! yet another pinch flat. So down the hill I go.... I get to camp and clean up.
By this time its noon so I hit the local hot spot for a burger. Just what I needed.

After lunch I'm feeling really full and looking for something to do to burn off this burger; and kill time till dinner. Earlier I had spotted some hiking signs around town so I put on my hiking boots and checked it out.

It happens to be the Ouray Perimeter Trail. It goes all the way around the town and the trailhead goes right through my camp. Its not raining in town so why not.

Turned out to be a very worthwhile hike. I think its about six miles in length. This hike was my plan C and plan D was hanging around till the following day in hopes that the weather might clear up on the mountain.

So that's Ouray; nice town. Always something going on. Today was the gold mining exposition held in the same park as the beer fest was the day before. Time to clean up, regroup, repair the flat & get ready for a fine steak feast at the best steak house in town.

i'm going to stick around till morning. If its sunny I'll ride; if its rainy, well at least I'll get an early start.

The next day was as wet as the last so GOOD BYE COLORADO>>> I drove straight home; I think it took me aprox. 18hrs. and it rained off and on all the way to California where I barely make out the sun through all the smoke from the Yosemite fire. The End.
