Ha. No. There was a foot of snow Sunday morning where the bike was parked for that photo. I took the shot on Saturday afternoon as the storm clouds were approaching.

I'm sure I know the answer, but I'll ask the question anyway.

Explorers Edition rules state that a "knobby tire" is required. Am I safe to assume that any50/50 Dual Sport/Adventure Tire is acceptable?

I've half a mind to order myself a Mitas E07 Dakar for the year... but will choose something different if an actual "knobby" is require.

TKC or something similar is considered a knobby. Something like a Hiedenau is not....

IF the sandy roads are freshly graded...it will be much safer having something with a knobby on it

Thanks Ted.

Guess I'm ordering a set of E09 Dakars instead...

A heidi is not a mitas. E07 has much better offroad abilities. Ask anyone who's been out with Forseti and I.

E09 front is so-so. Rear is great.

Agreed...E-09 front not that great, but a rear E09 and Front C17 combo is great both on and off road.

I have the Heidenau K-60 right now, and will not buy them again...they are so-so on road, and terrible off road.
