Which Shield for the 2013 F800GS

Aftermarket Shield? Touring? Comfort? Ease of use for everyday riding? Ive been shown Cee Baily's, but others, like the Vario look good to...what do you have and why?

Put an Aeroflow on the wifes 650..

If I ever downgrade to an 800 from the GSA..I'll follow suit..

looks good..works good..

I put a powerbronze on mine, really like it but still get a little bit of buffeting around the top of the helmet. I'm 5'10", but longer in the torso.

Big improvement over stock though. So Im happy, wanted to try TT Desertio 3 but couldn't bring myself to hand over that amount of $$ without seeing/trying one first. Have had mixed reviews about them. Just my $.02

I have tried two Cee Baileys, 16" and 18". I still get some buffeting. I duck forward just a little and it goes away. This bike appears to be very sensitive to positions. Not sure what shield to try next but experimenting is expensive. I have also tried 3 different helmets/designs.

Hi Fnatic-

Could you give some more feedback on your Powerbronze? I like the look and price of this one as well. How high off the headlight does it go, and does it seem to tall when riding off road? Does it seem pretty sturdy and of good quality?

Thanks!

I have used CalSci screens for a couple of bikes including my "13" 800GS.
Need to buy windshield brackets for the 12 and older model (under $6).
I've tried several brand screens on several bikes.
I like CalSci screens.... My $.02

Today I cut an NACA type vent in my 16" Bailey. I used a similar design to what CalSci uses. I'll ride it tomorrow and see if it helps out.

Hey Shrogers

Quality is top notch, made out of 3mm instead of the thinner 2 mm plastics some other makers use. Not too tall when riding off road, although I think one of "motoriley's" videos has him with this screen or the twalcomm (identical in design) version and he bins it and the screen snaps at the top, but thats due to a branch and any screen taller than stock would've done the same.

Believe its 200mm higher than stock, hang on rode to work, I'll go and measure.... Yeah bout 200mm higher than stock and from the top of the headlight its a total of 450mm to the highest pt on the tip at either side.

Works well for me, great protection for body from wind, if your tall torso wise etc you will get wind on your helmet, but lots more protection versus stock screen. Also screen is designed so that handlebars don't touch when at full lock. Have TT handguards on with larger spoiler and they don't touch.

Hope that helps a bit.

Hey fnatic,

I know earlier you said you were 5'10" tall torso. what is your inseam?
Curious about the powerbronze as well. Im 5'9" with 32" inseam. I would imagine I would be good given your size.

Im not looking for something to block all the wind, but I have noticed my neck feeling sore after 2-3hrs of riding. I think this is from the stock screen funneling increased air right at my forehead....

Currently thinking about adding a laminar lip or MRA spoiler vice new windshield all together.

Anybody swap the new 800GSA screen over yet?

Hey GS PIRATE

Ooooops sorry that should have read 5'9" not 5'10". Potato, patato....

Anyway, im about 30 - 31" inseam from last recollection. Still thinking about a little lunar lip at the top, with that it would be perfect. Now that its heating up it provides too much protection from wind on torso so probably just wack on the short OEM screen for summer then swap it back when it cools down again.

Ok, will through in there my experience 2013 F800GS:
Tried:
- Stock
- MadStad
- MRA X-Screen
- Z-Tecknik Sport Touring
- Z-Tecknick Touring
The only one that I liked and worked for me - "Givi"
I am 5"10 /w 32" inseam. Helmet - Arai Quantum II.
Excellent body protection, without blocking all the air, so you don't cook yourself behind that shield.
Only slight wind noise on the helmet, no buffeting at all.

BTW, tried the same setup with Nolan N104 - horrible. But I think that helmet very noisy no matter what you do!

That's what I'd like to know too...does the GSA screen and bar retro fit the 800GS's?
