It'll have to be 2015...unless I hit the lottery before. heading out on a 3 week trip with Ted and my buddy Mike to do some TCAT recon, and RR and photos for Giant Loop and of course it's a vacation. I can't swing both time or money wise... i need to travel more, badly. I am sure gonna miss out but it's worth it to sleep on the ground for 3 weeks in the bush.

I'm envious! Man that sounds cool.

I hope i get one, too.. I hope he writes me back in the affirmative. No reason he shouldnt, right?

Doing osme research on importing/registering such a thing as a custom frame... the regulations are curiously utterly unhelpful in this regard :lol I think I might just have to give the Vermont DMV the engine number, rather than the frame :SHHH Tell customs I bought a piece of yard art

..... I should graduate in May, but no certification till July....but I'm not very talented off road. With just some needle and thread Mike or I should be able to keep the people going.....the bikes well that's another story.

Maybe find a crashed, but titled frame here in the states, cut the bottom right tube out of it with the VIN stamp and mail it to oz to be incorporated into your frame. Hmmmmm.

Thats a good idea, I'll just weld the frame gusset with the stamp on it someplace

I heard from Paul today- there is indeed a little 10mm offset in the rear wheel. I have a bunch of parts aqcuisition to do

Here's a list of crap I need to get:

DRZ400 forks & wheel & brake.

OR a complete set of forks with no more than 250.mm of travel & with the same total offset as the DRZ forks.

Handle bars plus levers, master cylinder etc.
Petrol tank DR650, 30lters.
Air filter Husaberg 1999 to 2008, Plus cage.
Seat I am hoping to change from the Husaberg seat to a KTM.
If so then a KTM sub frame.
R1100 swing arm, drive shaft plus bolts etc.
A Diff, drum or Disc, depending on which way you want to go.
A rear hub, so it can be laced up to a 18” rim off set 10mm so you can run a 140X18 tyre.
A drum brake needs to be off set 10.mm. I have not done a disc set up yet.
DRZ400 foot pegs.
Rear brake lever, disc or drum.
The stub to join 1100 shaft to R100 gear box.
That’s all I can think of at the moment.

When it comes time to build the frame, I will need to know:
What motor & what carbs.
What rear brake set up.

what motor indeed!!

ANybody got any of these parts they want to part with?

If you buy the Safari dr650 tank....they sell a special edition with inserts in it to attach a fairing they sell....just saying it would give it the rally look your likely after

I was planning on going this route with my r80...but the allure of the hpn 43 liter was too much

http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=822511

I got a set of stock drz pegs you can have for the cost of shipping...or come up for a ride and grab them while your here

Oh ya....crf showa usd in my garage with triples, brake, fender, etc would be a good fit for ya

TEd! The rally fairing might be the business :woot

I would look at your showas for real- Paul says I need to find something with the same offset as the DRZ. I suppose thats so it fits in the tank?
I would prefer to ride up and grab em if its all the same to you.. I have a new tack to take with Canadian border guys I want to try out

well DRZ parts are a dime a dozen, better than airhead parts. Stock DRZ foot pegs are narrow. You know to get 2003 and latter forks don't you??
