Question Clutch slave

OK
here's another one
Should I change my clutch slave before I take off towards South America?
Haven't had any problems so far or should I just change the o-ring and fluid?
I'd rather blow some bucks now than to sit somewhere in bumfcuk Colombia or where ever with a bike that doesn't work.

How many miles on the bike? Mine died on my 2005 Adventure at about 27K miles of mostly commuting.

Change the o-ring, in any case.

Then either just us it, as I am doing with mine, or carry it as a backup.

Install a Rekluse and you won't ever touch the clutch lever again.

If you have access to a workshop...

Have a copy of the piston made a bit thicker. That should be quite enough and cheaper???
The plastic base could also be copied in aluminum.

You may also go for oberon or sigutech.
Cheers.

I would say leave it! Spend the mony on a good bar in Chile. That way when your clutch craps out in the middle on nowhere you'll have TWO good times to remember and add to your adventure.

I just went to install a Rekluse clutch last weekend on my '07 990 adv w/ 30K miles so was changing the slave as part of that project.

When I took off the slave I found that the spacer behind the slave had some small cracks in it and some of the plastic around the aluminum pegs in it had cracked off completely

Luckily it didn't fail completely on me, but I was kinda surprised at the condition of it to be honest.

Might want to check out that slave spacer too before heading out

I would replace it, if you don't want a rekluse just get the adjustable slave. Then you can tune out the clutch drag.

At a boy!

Don't make life too comfortable or you won't know how to handle a crisis when it comes along.

I carted a new Oberon around Europe this summer under the seat. I thought it wouldn't happen to me but sure enough... lever against the bar! I had a 2 mile ride through town to the KTM dealer to get oil... the same dealer that gave me a first test ride 10 years previously.

CJdesigns makes a nice aluminum backer for the slave. Mine had cracked as well. Combined with the rekluse, I'm a happy camper.

I say, change it now....
