Hi guys,

Brian: PM replied to...

I am working 12/6 out here in Wyalkatchem until (probably) Christmas and need time to drive to Perth to do shopping as well as washing/house stuff and spend time with my Dingo pup on Sunday - only day off... Sorry!

If works slows down by then, I'll be along. If not, I'll be at number 3!

G'day Bully

Might have a mate coming along, he's just back on a bike after a few years not riding. He's keen to get back into trail riding.

As its probably going to be warm, what do the more experienced riders recommend in terms of gear?

Cheers!

I could put up a picture here but Howard will kill me.
On a more serious note, Gravel really hurts when the nurses have to get it out of your skin with a scrubbing brush.

T-shirt shorts and thongs.

I have been out and found the perfect sand patch today. A nice open area so plenty of room to stand around and watch then have a go. Should be very helpful.

Oh and don't turn up in shorts and thongs or you will be sent home.
A lot of guys prefer nylon pants, a pressure suit or some kind of body armour, and a lightweight riding jersey.
I use a jacket with some built in padding and a t shirt underneath. I usually use Kevlar jeans with some shin and knee guards. The shin guards are particularly helpful for anyone riding a BMW boxer because every time you stick your leg out in a panic you generally end up kicking the cylinder heads.

Brilliant!! Thanks Mate!!

First post updated with participants. Please let us know if you are coming. Quite a few more than expected came to the last one... lol

Take water... lots of water... Its hot out there and even hotter when picking up the bike or struggling with new techniques.

It will be dusty. Maybe take a cap or hat that can be worn when we stop for breaks.

Please note: There will be no obligations to try out the various 'obstacles' presented on this ride. We will try to make it similar to the last one but include aditional spots where demonstrations will be given and there will be the opportunity to try the techniques shown yourselves in an environment where, if things go pear shaped, there are people to help.

Cheers
Brian

Are they cylinder heads sticking out the side of BMW's? Really??

I always thought they were built-in side stands...

Maybe, but it teaches you to ride with your feet on the pegs and not poking out all over the place.

Probably something starting with "L" like Loser, or Looney, or LEGEND.

Or you could just put "Railway Worker" on it because I spend a fair bit of time standing around doing fuck all.

Now, Back on topic.
I have located some places where we will be stopping and practicing a few things like, sliding the bike on gravel, some steep up hills and down hills, a big steep pile of gravel to ride all over, some small logs, and lots of sand. As Brian said, all the hard bits will be optional but everyone will be encouraged to give them a go.
All I have to do now is work out how to string them all together with some nice easy tracks.

I will see what I can get printed ,
Funny that all the Public think cause we are standing there doing fuck all each time they pass on the train we do nothing. Pitty the Bloody trains on the track we are working on.
