adventure not charging, VRR numbers OK?

2006 950A, 54K miles.
Not charging at all. Saw video how to test VRR. Hook leads to DVOM up 4 different combinations:
Infinity, infinity, infinity
497, 505, 501
infinity, infinity,infinity
502, 498, 494.
Does anyone know if these are correct?

Also checked stator at it tests OK (i think). Numbers even(ish) between the legs, none go to ground.

What else could it be?

Please send me any pointers.

Thx.

Marty

My boss asked if the bike had an exciter coil, or if stator uses magnets. If has exciter then i guess that's another thing that could go bad.

Most motorbikes (including the LC8s) use a generator with permanent magnets (unlike cars)
What is the voltage output of the regulator? are all connections clean and tight?

voltage when running is lower than when not running. Think when running is was 12.6ish.

Cleaned the plug for yellow wires to stator and red wires from VRR to battery.

Thx.

Check starter solenoid, mine had a contact corroded. Or bad regulator

anyway you could swap the VR for a test? With the OEM, engine running at idle with everything off (headlight too), you should get between 13.7-14.1v

noticed negative battery cable loose. Seems like charging some, but not enough. Will see how it does on ride home.

Not very good voltage on the way home, but it did eventually get up to 14.1. But even turning the blinkers on made voltage drop.

Came across a thread in an Aprillia forum describing how to test stator output. Tried it and one leg of stator is much lower than the others. Rats.

Maybe take cover off this weekend and see what's up.

If you descide you need a new R/R I suggest

Get the Shindengen one. It is highly praised in here.

Yes, have seen the R/R, looks good.
But i think my problem is a burned stator.

Thx.
