Hi guys, great stories & piccies again!!!
That Hotel Washington looks the bees-knees....well posh!!
As an FYI, I went to Nepal earlier this year, & they have slums like those in Colon, it makes you want to reach out & help them, but it's a futile exercise unless you start up some full time charity..............

Anyway, enough of the moroseness (is there such a word!?!?!?)

Oh, your Mo' asked, & I don't know too much about them..How does the Spot work?...do you have a separate transmitter?....how does it charge up?
What do the numbers on the map/chart correspond to?....how much does it cost?/\.....& anything else you can tell me/us about it.

Take care & enjoy this trip of a lifetime,
Elton (!)

PS, you'll be sooooo (not) upset to know that the west coast & inland over Vegas to Texas & beyond are going to have sub zero temps next weekend!

I have to admit I considered my fantasy with motorbikes was over, I hurt and I felt sick inside. Colleen kept me going and she never even considered we would give up. I wouldn't cast any dispersion on any one that gave it up after a big 'off'

We got the SPOT locator on Amazon for about $80.

It's about the size of an Ipod.

They recommend lithium batteries, it takes three AAA's, they last about two weeks.

Then you subscribe to one of their programs. Start at about $99 and up.

We got one that includes medvac from scene of incident.

They have a good website. It's a pretty neat item. You could apply it for many uses.

I think the numbers are GPS LAT&LONG, it can pin point your position to within about 50 feet I believe.

See my sweet little wiper blades. Love those! They have been used on this trip!

You can see my gloves are showing signs of wear.

I would strongly suggest that you take two pair of your favorite glove on such a journey.

I do have my BMW gloves along. They are more of a winter weight and have been tucked away with our heated vests for many weeks!!!

Planning was rather mediocre. We just figured 6 months at 200 miles a day to do the trip and $100 a day for ex's, thinking $60 gas, the rest room and etc. It turns out gas is less, but rooms are more. We didn't figure tolls/borders fees so that upped the average.

So, these two cops were riding patrol on a Suzuki DR650! The passenger has an automatic rifle.

They stopped and asked were we are going. We said "walk to Central" they said it's dangerous, someone will grab your camera. We asked should we go back to the hotel, they nodded yes.
We bought some groceries and two other cops tailed us back a few blocks from across the street.

It absolutely poured and poured rain last night, hard, hard, hard. I can't imagine this roof holding it all back

There's a card game going on at that table.
