2015 Adventure R airbox

does anyone know if the airbox problem has been remedied? Was in looking today at a 2015 R , the salesman said ktm hasn't acknowledged it being a problem directly , he only said the box has been modified from the 14 and he couldn't provide specifics . I 'm going to pull the trigger and I'm wondering if the after market mod is still going to be needed ,

Why even risk it? You have 2 great options neither of which are expensive. Make the dealer install it as part of your purchase.

There is no way I would risk it. Why trust them if they don't even acknowledge their past failure??

We don't need a 2015 Adventure airbox failure thread!

Install the Powercell Pod Filter kit and never worry about the air your motor breathes again. Love mine.

As you can see, there are some parts renewed in the airbox of the adventure 2015. Parts 1, 3, 9 and 14

But knowing how KTM solves problems Ill have my doubts... only time will tell

Well, they basically changed completely the way the filter is held. Which was actually the problem.
Question is if the new 9 &14 parts will fit in the previous airbox. Since part 1 is changed as well, the answer is probably no.

I guess it would make too much sense for KTM to provide these parts at no charge to 2014 1190 owners. One would think it would be cheaper than all of the engines that they have rebuilt or replaced.

rather different set up ..to the 2014 . The 2015 setup as pictured ..seems designed to really ram the filter squarely into the opening..I can't see how the ram is fixed in place but from what I can see it looks like a workable solution.

Very interesting KTM does not whisper a word that they changed this.. If it was me ....I would have addressed this in 2013 pronto. Why have to fix all those motors and THEN have to go and re work the air box..Seems like theeeeee most damaging to rep and expensive route one could ever take with such a problem or am I missing something.

My dealer says the problem with the '14 model is that the factory air filter is too coarse and has been arguing that with KTM from the off. He's the largest seller of Adventures in Australia and has been fitting the Unifilter to every new bike when it's uncrated.

as in ..are you going to trust the KTM air box re design? or change it for a Rot or PC ..?
Prolly go with one of the latter two but I will inspect the air box and do some testing to see if anything can still get in.
If I am not mistaken my dealer said that KTM is advising against following other riders in dirt..ie suggestive of the fact the air box still can leak.
He is either installing or suggesting a UNi be put in all new 15's

right off the bat

I will be installing a uni filter as well as the pcv. This may rob a few HP's but will I really miss 5hp off of 150? NO.
