Hopefully Nicky's Honda will gain some speed by raceday.

If not and I was the team's sponsor- I would be asking some questions re: why are we being lapped?

Nice sell job, HRC

And the winner is ...

Well, the best times were expected to come in the first hour today while the track was cool, and that's over so here are the top five:

Marquez 1:59.533

Rossi 1:59.727

Lorenzo 1:59.866*

Espargaro, A 1:59.998

Bradl 2:00.112

Dovisioso was next, and Pedrosa was nowhere (well, 11th) with a 2:00.986, almost a full second slower than Espargaro on the Open M1.

* Lorenzo posted that time on his second lap today, so we can guess that it came fairly easily. Marquez and Rossi did their best times on laps 10 and 11.

... Oh, and Marquez was therefore a tenth under Stoner's outright circuit record from 2012.

Looks like Rossi might have something he can work with this year.

But then again, I said that last year and the year before that.

He's running pretty good so far, for an old codger. Even Krop is giving him a second look ...

(I do think Vale still has a few surprises up his sleeve. He's old, but not THAT old just yet).

For me, A. Espargaro is THE standout. Unbelievable almost. I find it a little difficult to understand how he can be that far up first time out!!

WTF!? Another freak?

A.Espargaro was occasionally pretty fast last year, too... but for one lap only, or a few laps at most, whole race distance being another matter completely.

But I checked from motogp.com, and during last year΄s race weekend at Sepang, he was constantly about 2 seconds off the pace in practices/QP sessions, and reached the flag almost 1 minute after race winner Pedrosa. So now, different bike and all, but to be only 0.4-0.5 from the top, and on the heels of Lorenzo, yeah I have to say that is seriously impressive!

good to see Rossi up there. Also great to see A Espargaro really on it, but I had a feeling that he would go good on a decent bike, he rode the wheels off that contraption he had last year
maybe Edwards can take some Geritol and catch up!
Nicky's team needs to file a warranty claim on that bike, seems it came out of the box without an engine, But I have a feeling Honda will do a bit of work on it for them, nobody wants an angry customer.

Nakamoto-san says Lorenzo is on his shopping list.
