Edinbourgh

I had a dead day in Ednibourgh. So I rented a new Suzuki DL1000A VStrom from Saltire Motorcycle. I'm not affiliated with them in any way, but they made it all doable. very nice people to deal with. I have an 08 DL650 WeeStrom, so to get to ride the new redesigned 1000 was great. I was very surprised. I expected it to be much like the old 1000, but it wasn't. It's lighter and much more nimble the my 650. So anyway, the day dawned beautiful, and warmed up quickly. Since I'm not familiar with the area, and had never ridden on the left, I thought an easy jaunt would be good. I have driven on the left, but not a bike on the left. Really easy, but you gotta remember! Stay left etc. I headed out from Edinburgh. Ultimately would up south of Peebles.

While heading south, I saw this sign, and just had to check it out.

That got me back in the hills on some dirt/gravel/muddy roads. They had been doing some logging up there.

I stopped at an old castle. Pretty neat place.

It's hard to keep your eye on the road, navigate, remind yourself to "RIDE LEFT" all the time, and enjoy the scenery, let alone get some good pix. Maybe better next week.

I loved Edinburgh and travelling all over Scotland. If I get a chance to go back, I'd definitely want to travel by bike. Absolutely beautiful country.

Love Scotland too! I was there when I was in the USAF...I'd love to go back!
