(correction!) side stand in the way!

Does anyone else have an issue with your heel hitting the SIDE stand arm when your standing on the pegs? It seems that this shouldn't be an issue, but sometimes when I drop my heel, I wonder if it's a hazard... I'm mostly worried that it will activate the kill switch if I push it down too far.

BTW, I have 2011 GS, so I'm not sure if this problem is unique to my particular model year....

Yes. On a '13 wethead with lowered BMW enduro pegs and size 12ish boots. The deployment tang captures the heel of the boot if on the balls of my feet. I have to slide the left foot forward maybe 20mm if I want to pivot my left foot heel out without interference.

Annoying, as the bike is new enough that foot placement is not yet an automatic action.

Put it on the side stand and give it a few hits with a rubber hammer. Worked for me!

I have a '14 GS. The center stand stem is a real problem for my size 11 boots off road. I cut about 4 inches out of it and welded the foot back on. It's perfect for me now. Someone light may need the extra leverage getting it on the stand but I have no problem.

Centerstand no; side stand, yes. Aftermarket sidestand enlargers usually exacerbate the issue.

yes

but it went away when I put a GSA centerstand during my shock swap. I still feel it occasionally, but its not a problem anymore.

You all realize..the Waterhead stands are completely different than the previous model, correct?

The OP has a '11 GSA..so it's old style..The Waterhead, didn't arrive until 2013

Yes, your heel will hit the SIDESTAND now and again..and you will notice it more if you have an enlarger on it..

Mine is a '10 GS, so still relevant. And actually i can't recall hitting the sidestand. My problem was the side of my heel would contact the centerstand lever when moving laterally, and I think its the same with the OP

YES! This is exactly the issue I have. I cant believe this was how BMW designed this stand! And yes, adding a foot enlarger for stability only made a bad design worse.
