Project idea: Input appreciated

While sitting in traffic I distract myself with motorcycle stuff so my idea is below.

Using all my spare parts laying around I thought about building another bike.

1. R100 GS main frame
2. /5 front end or /7 front end
3. Twin shock subframe or GS subframe modified to accommodate 2 shocks
4. R60/5 or 75 /7Engine
5. Run dual exhaust

Let the abuse begin!

Well, why the heck not? But, without a direction, it will just be a bike that got put toghether from random bits. What do you want it to do, or what do you wnat ot do with it?

Just start it & let it morph. See if you can start the next trend

One of my recent projects started life as this. I had an idea at the start of where it was going but it took a completely different direction. Just go for it.

You're in Africa, see if you can work some Peugeot 404 parts into it somewhere. Maybe Peugeot 504 these days?

If you have enough parts to build an R100GS, you're not going to improve on it by substituting parts from older models. You'll need an actual goal. What might that be?

Some good inspiration here: http://www.bikeexif.com/page/2?s=bmw

I would go for something simple like this

Well I'm not sure what I would call it but with the parts I have I'm going light as possible. Not sure of the weight difference between a stock Airhead front end and a DRZ / WR is.

A sound low mileage component bike that will carry me anywhere I want to go. 70 mph is fine, not lookin for speed. I have the 1200GS for that. Probably a Pirelli MT43 rear / Dunlop K70 front.

The R60 Engine / rear drive I have are low mileage, 14k and some change.

Thought about a 2 into 1 exhaust and use the spare stain tune that I have.

Sure

Sorry about the Hijack ML. Won't be a tick though.

I sold it to a photographer who took some nice pics of it - I really didn't want to part with it.

triples and forks (no wheel no brake etc)
Stock R80G/S front end: 10kg
RM250 (like DRZ400): 11kg

Only adding weight there, but its worth it.

I would certainly use the best suspension and brake components available to you for better handling and ride quality.

The rest can sort it self out.

The good thing is, your damn motor can't read. If it says oil on the container, it's pretty much OK to dump in there.... ED.
