That 1190R has my eye.

Anyone got a pic with a dirt bike fender on it? i know people did it on the 990's. not a fan of those rally type front fenders.

How is getting to the air box? changing the air filter on my 950 SE is quite annoying ( requires removing the tank )
I have both bikes...different animals....one can't replace the other....

The 1190 is a bad ass GS....not a dirt bike....

Can't advise on a comparison but you do have to remove the tank to get to the airfilter. Look up "nerb1" on you tube. He has a video of doing it on his R.

Haha it feels like a dirt bike to me..just a big ass one!

Thinking of reorganizing my stable. 950SE is staying for now, but I have a 500exc for dual sporting ( was using the 950 ). Kinda think the 1190R would be better for me for long trips..but I still prefer dirt over pavement. Plus it looks so dang cool lol.

Hi Harry, I know this post is older, but figured it would help others out. I just rode my 1190R across country, 2700 miles, and was SUPER comfortable the entire way. This is from one of the people that suffers from incredible neck pain after only a few hundred miles on many other bikes/setups. I do NOT have the risers, just the OEM bar setup and height.

Cheers,
Mike

I don't think there's much weight to be stripped from these bikes, short of the usual suspects: exhaust, cat, SAS and Canister. We're concentrating on making the bike better, safer and more comfortable off-road. We're stretching the suspension to 266mm and upgrading it to quality Öhlins sliders on both ends. We have a very nice Scotts damper setup in production. Add our billet fuel filler with pre-filter, a nice Seat Concepts seat, Uni-Filter and a skid plate of your choosing and this bike is gonna kill it down in Baja!

Has anyone here done an oil change after installing the ktm skid plate? I was looking for the easiest way to remove it. Unbolt it from the hangers or unbolt the hangers from the frame?
