I got into St. George Utah today on day 3 from Jackson, WY. 725 miles on her now after I got her Tuesday afternoon. There was no wind this morning and what a difference after the last 2 days. I still think i might go for a bigger one and that Puig looks pretty good.

She goes in for her oil change here on Monday and then on to Page Arizona, then Moab and try to find a window in the weather to get back to the Hole.

The seat, I can go about an hour before a short break helps.

Eric

Oh yea, loving it and I guess I should try sport mode

Also, I'm really liking the Garmin 665Lm unit mounted to the Touratech above gauge locking mount. It does vibrate a bit so we'll see how it does off-road.

I had set up the Sirius sat with weather to see how I liked it and tried using it with apple ear buds for the first day. Not good. So I stopped in Payson UT at the Rocky Mtn ATV factory outlet and got a scala rider q3 even though I had a Sena S20 on order. I guess I'll use one on my sport bike helmet. I had to charge it in the tank bag all the way to Panguitch but when I got to my room there got it hooked up and wow. Tunes, directions and volume goes up as noise gets louder. And no more wires and sore ears. Today was great.
Best day on the road yet and Zion was amazing. Plus free national park weekend so you guys get out there tomorrow, afternoon.

Long ride to Austin

I left for my ride from Fort Collins to Austin last week for the MotoGP races. Great ride down. Surprising how comfortable the bike is (1190S) just ate up the miles. The cross wind where tough as usual in the Colorado spring. Made it to Palo Duro canyon for the night(500mi) set up my one man tent and crashed. Next day rode through Palo Duro saw the sights then headed Southeast towards Austin. Made it to Austin great races, headed home Sunday, froze my arse off wished for heated everything and more.

Take away
MPG ave. 41
Heated grips are a min in spring
Heat foil foam unstuck from under seat
Dream of cruise control
Got really good at subtracting 6 from any speed
This bike simply put - Works

Yea the speedo thing. With the GPS it shows the bike is over estimating by I'd say 9.5%. I little bit would be understandable but that's to much math every time you look at the speed. I'm learning to ignore it and just use the gps.

I have had mine on for 2 months and I like it. Not love but like, I'm used to BMW cruse control and would much prefer electric cruse control. I would bet that by next year it will be available, but for now this works.

I liked the look of the GoCruise Kaq is using, and just ordered the universal one from ebay here:

I've been very happy with the OmniCruise, I haven't used it on the 1190, but I have on my other bikes. There is a thread in Vendors I believe with an inmate discount.

When I bought one of the first Multistrada 1200's the manual actually stated the speedo was reading up to 8% above actual. Compared to GPS it was spot on +8%.

Had one on my 690 since I got it and moved the one on my 990 to my 1190R the day I got it. Works for me. A software speed control would likely be better.

Had a Goldwing with cruise that held speed on uphill and downhill within a few MPH.
A "throttle lock" type cruise might work in the "Big Flat Areas" but not in NH.
Not a flat straight road in the state. ;-)
Could get interested in a "smart" cruise control, too bad they are so expensive.

Being that we already have computer controlled throttles, you would think it would be a simple task to install a way to tell the computer to "hold this speed."

The friction lock i have been using works really good, I take my hand off the throttle frequently and when able just rest my right hand and ride along.
