Just got back from a FL - NC - FL trip, about 2200 miles in 4 days, only 400 miles Interstate, the rest of it GA / NC / TN backroads. I rode it back from NC in June when it was much cooler, hit 100 degrees F through mid-GA yesterday afternoon, oil temp got up around 205 in stop-n-go traffic in GA, but back down to 184 after 30 minutes of running 60-65. Coolant temp never changed, heat off the motor wasn't unbearable. I wore Klim Latitude pants and a Cortech Mesh jacket. My feet were the hottest but I wore waterproof boots for the trip, instead of ventilated ones.

The most annoying issue I had with the bike is the speedo error (I know there is a separate thread for that), I don't understand why a speedo being 10% off is "safer." Doing back roads the speed limit is constantly changing, and I'm mathematically challenged. I think I'm going to ask my dealer to reset the front tire circumference when I go back up to NC next week. My 990 SMR speedo is right on.

The most "uncomfortable" issue I had was the seat. I have almost 5000 miles on the bike now, and originally liked the seat (except for the "offset" or whatever you call it, it doesn't let me get back as far as I'd like with my long legs). But it feels like the foam is "breaking down," it certainly doesn't support my weight as well now. It got to where I could feel the frame under my arse. I stopped at a Walmart the night before we left and bought an ATV seat cover to strap on the stocker, I don't think I would have made it home without it.

Otherwise I absolutely loved the bike, not quite as comfy on the slab as my ST1300 (which I sold to buy the 1190R) but a lot more fun after you get off the Interstate. I thought the wind protection was adequate, but most of our trip was < 75 mph. Doesn't look like it has used any oil in the last 3000 miles, and my airbox looked good before I left on the trip last week.

Now to shop for a new seat...

Here's where to go.

One of the economical seat solutions too.

I emailed James this morning, to see what the build time is. I have a Renazco on my XR650R, that was built for the PO. Very nice seat, we are pretty close in size so it works well for me. I also am looking at Fisher, and I'd be interested in Seat Concepts but I don't think they build a kit without the offset, which I need to lose. I want a flat "dirt bike" style seat, like yours. May go with vinyl although the XR is suede.

What rubber

Do you plan on using. I did a 44 and had no problem with the stock rubber. Did a 45 on the new wheel set with a k3 and the tire hit the splash guard up front. I did go up two links to center the axel in the rear swing arm 118 to 120

I am running a 2.5" rim and a 140 profile k3 soooo.....don't know if that is giving me the fit " issue"

Does that keep the stock seat height? Might make that a winter mod.

I'm trying 45 with a Pirelli Scorpion Rally 140/80 on a 2.5" rim. I'll let you know.
