Apologies that I do not know how to embed the video.

Is the skill of the rider not the bike.

Sorry for posting a blue bike here.

Looks like a Hooligan to me, and should be arrested and spend several years in prison. He gives oversize motorcycles a very bad/good (not sure) name...

I don't understand Bowser's post.. He said he hardly ever does offroad, yet bought an 07 990 adv and disabled ABS? Why? Are you superhuman? :)

Like it or not, we all "DO" care about what a bike looks like, and to be honest for me the 1190 is ugly as hell, cant abide the exhaust, cant abide the OEM panniers, cant abide the tank fairing etc. its not for me.
+ I dont want and have no interest in, electronic suspension, fly by wire, ABS, and most of all CANBUS.
So I went for a 2007 990 with ABS (it was the best bike available) then took the ABS off.
The 990 and 1190 are different bikes, so much so that you'd think there might be an 800/900 adv coming to satisfy the 990 fanbase who think the 1190 is too much of a heavy tourer..
That said, every review I'm seeing of the 1190 - even the "roadie" 1190 - says it's the business when going offroad. What's to hate?

Also - anybody who says the 1190 is ugly. Really? How long have you been riding KTMs? "beauty" and "ktm" seldom go together..

Nope not superhuman at all, far from it, old fossil is the word probably.
I prefer the feel of the 990 without the abs, more feedback less wooden, more bite.
I have had ABS fail me twice once when the system failed, an once when it detected the wheels locking and released the brakes at a time when what I REALLY needed was wheels locked and the maximum friction possible, both occasions on blue light runs.
When it comes to looks yes I suppose its a personal thing but to me the 950/990 is up there with the Ducati 991, MV Agusta America, it is to me one of the best looking bikes I have ever owned.
The 1190 on the other hand is to the 990 as the Original multistrada is to the Ducati 991

Hey Chris, I'm in Atlanta several times a year.. I will have to come by and ride that thing??

I am planning on going to Dusk to Dawson in June, maybe you can let me do a Demo ride... Should know if I like it by the time I get back...

Cheers, Smitty

No problem, you're welcome to ride it. I have test rode the regular Adventure and really like its dirt mode. Still waiting to pick up my "R" today. During the test ride I was impressed by It's smooth controlled throttle with none of that throttle snatch. Being PO of a 990 and 690 it took tons of mods, tweaks and maps to get these gurl's throttle under control. IMO It seems KTM finally got their crap together in regards to fueling, at least with this "Dirt Mode" setting.

I would be interested in your ride report to compare the one you test rode to the one you collected with US map.

Hi Richard,

Here's pic when I finally got home today. I installed the luggage rack and had the dealer install KTM's Power Sports skid plate. I will say KTM went above and beyond with the build quality of this heavy duty 6mm aluminum skid plate. As for the bike performance, I'm really happy with her. Only negative is that I almost busted my ass with those slick ass tires when messing around in the yard.

For me it looks like an average test demo ride

WOW, Chris... that looks very nice. The one I seen was a standard, and since I am color blind I am not sure what color it was. Red maybe, just not sure. I just may have to find me a "R" to test ride.

Chris, you have a PM headed your way..
