If a 606 will last 1200 miles for say 100 bucks, and a cheap tire that cost 65 bucks lasts 700 miles, which is the better deal? Also factor in the hassle of changing it out. Then there is the legality issue of riding in a national park, I know it's a remote chance, but getting a ticket for having a non dot tire would suck balls.

Since you had to go there with the "tire" question, might as well go there on the "oil" question.

Chevron Delo 400LE, keep it clean!

In the F250 and both bikes.

A fucking outlaw like you worried about a tire's DOT rating? WTF? I just lost all respect for you.

So the 606 is about $0.08 per mile and the cheap tire is $0.09 per mile.

Now it sounds like I ride a KLR………………….but does prove that the cheapest thing on a BMW is the guy riding it.

I'm glad I wasn't the only one questioning the math there... (says the guy who also has a BMW...)

I guess the D606s it is as there is not enough savings to matter, and I know they last really well and I liked how they handled with the WR.

The math is what it is, but the 606 is only worth running IF street legality is the primary issue. If not, they're as useful offroad as a mild 50/50 tire. Sorry, but if you truly want offroad traction, avoid DOT approval.

The diff btwn the 606 & a true dirt tire is mind blowing. The 606 looks more aggressive than it is. I hear good things about non-DOT Bridgestones. I prefer a 739AT or (my next tire) an MT43. I've heard it praised by too many die-hard riders I respect to continue ignoring it. I ride an anemic fat pig that struggles to spin a knobby anyway, so I'll give the Pirelli a fair trial (pun intended).

I have a light bike, but, I had a set of tires mounted on my ttr 250.
Pirelli mt-43 4.00x18 and a Pirelli xcmh 80/100-21 for 210 bucks, including mounting.

Check American moto tire...... Free shipping over 100 bucks. Though my local shop sold them to me for basically the same price.

hey, I'm out. my bike needs its front master cylinder redone and I won't get it done by jan 10.

walk-in campsite 124, which is a nice shady quiet spot very close to bike parking is up for grabs.

room for a bunch of small tents and bikes, sharing a picnic table and firebox.

(B) marks the spot.
