The brackets are milled! We're picking them up today and will take the clamps and brackets in for hard anodizing.

Damnit
You are killing my new years resolution.
I am gonna have to get a set. I will measure the bars tonight. What is the best way to do it? I always wanted a tool to measure pipe sizes what is the most effective that won't break the bank. Remember I need to save money for the clamps themselves! |

Or, a simple non-digital caliper for much less. Our local hardware shop has simple calipers for < $3. So, you might find something comparable. Or break out your ruler and measure the diameter. An approximate reading will be okay. We expect the outside diameter to be 22.5mm ~~ .885 inches. 3 place precision not necessary. :): |

We completed an anodizing sample test today:
left to right: {clear anodize; black-shiny; black-flat} We like the clear and the black-shiny anodizing, what do you like? |

Clear anodized looks good to me. It'll match the telelever/chrome H&B guard.

I like the clear best, but they all look good. Most bars are alu colored, most lights black, so it will match / mismatch anyway.
I take you modified the light mounting platform? the clear one is wider, no? |

The first 6 Pilot cases will be ready Feb 14. These will undergo rigorous testing by a set of Chief Evaluation Officers (CEOs) located in different geographies around the US. We will collect test data, adjust the design as needed and then build the next set. The number of cases will be determined by the number and significance of the design changes incorporated. March 1 is a possible date for the first production case sets to be available. We are working on parallel development tracks for a number of new Micatech products right now. We're really excited about the upcoming Spring riding season. Thanks for the ecouragement. We about to anounce details of our early purchase program for the first 15 Pilot case sets. Would you like to be put on the list? If yes, please send me email to chuckh@micatech.net Once on this list, you will receive regular product updates as your case set get close to delivery. All the Best, Chuck |

You hit the design considerations on the head. Most light bodies/brackets are black and the engine crash bars are either silver or black. So, either color clamp/bracket would likely look good on your GS. We are going to anodize half of the first set clear and the other half black. This increases the cost slightly as we have a smaller anodizing run. Then, we'll see which option customers prefer. The 2 inch form factor was our original prototype that we have 10 sets of. The 1.5 inch wide bracket we have 40 sets. We'll anounce introductory pricing my next Monday. These clamps/brackets are very cool and provide great adjustability and mounting options. I'm not certain the pictures I've posted have done them justice. |

Hey now,,,penny teck Rulllessss
Quote:
when you understand something, you can solve problems in many ways, and explain them in even more ways, when you don't know,,,you are ussually scare other people will figure it out,and see how nothing it is............ Penny teck,is totally the other way. is the ULTIMATE prove that you know what you are doing, and you are aware of the fisics and the fisical limitations, and lack or at least imidiate resourses to be use.that you know your materials, and how to make holes with rocks, brake lights out of nothing. actually......you will not wait for the parts counter to be open, so they can order the part that you think you need,so you will have time to watch HBO on a cheap hotel,,if you are a penny teck mind you will be at your house, not stranded some were when you are a penny teck menber you carry the most important tool inside your helmet. sometimes is a bad thing to be AWARE(refer to the MATRIX) "ingorance is bliss"in my case my development takes a long long time ,because I'm very aware of all the variables, that convey on a single task,,plus I have a ton of "smartty pants" friends, that can be critic as hell,so I let them evolve, grow inside my head until I think(I'm sure )they are ready. not like some others that let the people do the development for them.....(al que le caiga el guante ,que se le lo plante)

Our present design will work on your F650GS H&B bars. Our friends in Europe prefer the H&B engine crash bars for their bikes and it requires a 22.5mm diameter opening to be milled. We've designed that variation and will submit it to our CNC milling shop next week. The anodizing will be done on Tuesday, Feb 11. We will offer both natural and black finish in this production run. Price will be $99.99 to ADVrider members through Feb 28. The price listed on our website will be $129.99. So, please remember to call us first before ordering. All the Best, Chuck
