Excellent eye. It was a sandy mess. Rode up half way for the photo op and turned around. I wasn't going to mess with the sandy corners up there and after work traffic.

I've been up that hill a hundred time but I've never seen it that sandy. Should have took the Ural. Questionable traction = more fun.

Anyone know why they call it observatory road? Did there used to be an actual observatory up there?

Hmmm, odd I'd have missed that. But you are right. An old observatory from the 1930s according to Wikipedia. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Goethe_Link_Observatory

Is there going to be gravel roads? I'm in either way, just wondering.

100% Pavement. Originally I wanted to get some gravel, but decided if we wanted to maximize turnout we will keep it to pavement. More turnout = more bikes for the kids.

Tell you sport bike friends, your cruiser friends, your scooter friends. All bikes are welcome! If you want to get the kids some bikes, join us.

NOT a parade ride. We will be leaving in groups of 8ish to keep the riding pace fun.

That's a paved road after being sanded and salted all winter. A few good rains will really help clean up the back roads we will be using.
