insurance paid @ $1500 for the pair....

Love my K700. Got a steal on them brand new here in Nor Cal off Craigslist for $250. Guys wife bought em for him to be safe and he said he didn't like them. You forget you have them on while your riding after a couple rides. My legs feel naked and vulnerable now If I hop in for a ride without them.

Great tip about Craigslist. I found some in my neck of the woods. Too bad they're the wrong size for me!

i wear knee braces because of having surgeries on both knee's from riding and racing. i had CTI's built for me back in the day....raced 1 season in asteriks and when my ACLless:) knee started feeling better i switched to a more comrortable
yet supportive pair

http://www.rockymountainatvmc.com/p/...ee-Guards-2014

i have 2 seasons of racing and singletrack riding on these and could not be happier........
my ortho doc thinks it all hype..10mm of rotation will blow a knee out.....oh well i like them
dave

oh yeah!
do not believe the ads...the super supportive ones
ARE NOT comfortable

I wear the same knee guards. I absolutely love em. They have protected my knees in many a get-offs. I used to have Asterisk knee braces, but I don't ride hard enough, or race to really warrant the use of such items.

i have a torn acl and chose no surgery. orthopedic surgeon prescribed a therapy treatment and knee brace.

only the pod k700 at the time @ 2 years ago, was the only one (moto specific) that is considered a medical device. check out their website.

there are probably other brands that the insurance companies will accept.

rode over 200 miles in the desert today and didn't even feel i'm wearing a brace. buy what fits right, regardless out of your pocket or insurance. mine had to be fitted twice by dannyG (P.T.) until i'm set.

I'm thinking they need to be adjusted! They shouldn't hurt to work properly. The asterisks I've got are adjusted with an Allen wrench. Do yours have a similar adjustment?

I've ridden with my Pods for multiple days, well over 100 miles a day, without any pain or problems. You should be able to adjust them to fit without ending up in pain.

not just a brace but a medical device

yeah i can't believe it either. what's cheap in the medical world? let us know if you find one.

i was treated in an emergency care due to chemical splash. they made me use the eye wash to rinse my eye for @15 minutes. didn't even get any medication or seen by a doctor. my bill was $300............

back on my knee brace, having a physical therapist fitted the device on me made it a perfect fit....i think that was the $700 difference...hahaha

Too tight? There's a fine line between snug and tight on knee braces. Ive worn CTi's for years and it does take a while and some adjusting sometimes to get em where they are comfy. Read their directions for putting them on carefully.

I wonder what all a PT would do fitting a Pod brace? Theres the round pads that can be 1 of two thicknesses.......and there are straps. Id like mine to fit as good as possible.

Long ago I went to my orthopedic guy and told him I wanted a knee brace,he said he had just the thing, wasnt what I wanted.
I told him about CTi and he ordered me one after measurements were done.

Next time I went in he had sold about 8 pair of them,it was when they first came on the market and were only custom made.

Thanks for the reply, it's a riding buddy that's having all of the trouble. I'm lucky enough not to need them. I'll send this thread to him. Thanks again guys, this is a good topic....

i'm thinking of the same way too, just the pads and the tendons. well, i didn't get a riding brace, but a medical brace. that includes the ortho visit, mri, revisit ortho, prescription, medical supply, supervision and assurance that what the ortho prescribed was carried out and i get rehabilitated.

things could go the other way too the cheap way. buy the braces from rockymountain atv, use my 10% discount with free shipping, where i could end up buying the wrong size and and brace, then insurance company refuses to pay it because rmatv is not a medical supply company. how many people buy pods and asterisks ending up selling them because they're not the right one.

after i had a shoulder surgery, i could just get a sling from wallgreens for less than $20, but the ortho doc had to send someone from a medical supply company to my house and fitted the sling...i bet that cost $200...

hmmmm.....my pods are getting old - padding worn out and straps lost elasticity, think i need to see my ortho again and get a new prescription.

rather not and have a good knee instead......
