Time to wrap it up. The gas tank components were installed this weekend. I wrap the tank in an old Tshirt, for this tank an 08 ISDE Tee that got ruined from bleach will do. A 6" X 1/8" drill bit is used to ream out the cap mounting holes that get filled with paint. The extended bit is needed to keep the drill chuck away from the tank. A small file is used to remove the paint in the areas where the cap and clip mount. In this pic my finger is pointing to the rivet on the clip. The rivet has a small dimple on one end. I take an old steering head bearing, yea, they are still good for something, and use it in a Vise Grip to expand the rivet. It works very well.

Some before and after shots of the petcock. These petcocks are vacuum activated and I like them because you don't have to remember to turn off the gas, and in a 2 stroke that is a good thing. First pic is a before with the rebuild kit and an after pic. The petcock gets the same soak overnite in carb cleaner and then a quick acid dip in Muriatic Acid as the carbs got.

And now for the bittersweet moment, the end. The bike fired right up and has been run about 2 miles up and down the road. I will be taking it to the DMV this week for registration and hope to have, (if this Winter ever ends) a couple hundred miles and the hidden Gremlins worked out for Deals Gap first week in May. I don't know if it is Porsche Dave's crank work but this has to be the smoothest running triple I've done. As of now, (anyone who has a vintage bike knows what I mean by that) everything works. All lights, horn. brakes, motor, is working pretty damn well.

May I say first, this bike is a Looker! The Orange color, Larry got it perfect, Thanks again Larry. Tom, thank you for the bike, it will be on it's way to your house with a favorite screwdriver of yours in the very near future. I can't wait for you to see the bike and take it for a spin.

To all who have followed this thread, thank you. So, God willing, until next Winter and a project still to be found, my finished pics.

The good thing is, your damn motor can't read. If it says oil on the container, it's pretty much OK to dump in there.... ED.

Beautiful.

I can still see Tim Coffman going a wheelie after football practice with Harris Wilson on the back in his football helmet. :loll

These motorcycles are iconic.
