Arnold

I am sure if you have ridden the Rock in the past you know "Arnolds".
The motorized community lost a good friend last week. Arnold Scott was a man of many passions but motor racing was his favorite. He even sponsored a race car “77” at COLUMBUS motor speedway. He owned a land fill in Columbus and spent his time rebuilding old cars. Mostly 50’s fords. Most of the folks who rode the Hanging Rock new the name Arnold from the 5 mile section called “Arnolds”. Arnold loved to see us come thru. We even had a few hare scrambles on his place. Please put him and his family in your prayers. He will be missed. God Speed Arnold, God Speed.

what kinda of challenge do I need to expect on the adventure ride? I understand im riding a big bike (990) but I ride it like my 250 for the most part. I stay away from mud with the big bike. on that note I want a challenge.

The adventure ride is a really good ride. As little pavement as humanly possible, (read lots of shady hollow twisty gravel roads). We have a number of dirt roads and "wet or dry" (stream beds) that are a hoot. Yes if it rains the dirt roads could be slippery (?). The wet or dry do not change as they are all rock (well water depth changes) but we do have by passes for the dirt (mud if it rains) roads.

You should also know that our Adventure routes are laid out for big bikes not trials riders. No single track mud trails.

The DS route is a lot of single track, it can be challenging on a smaller bike. If you can do the whole thing on a 990 you will be my new hero.

Umm, I would not run a 990 in this dual sport event. It is always a muddy one, and that 990 will just dig itself a nice resting place. Do the adventure ride, or bring a small bike for the dual sport. 500lb bikes and deep mud don't mix.

I am definitely with OhioPT. Do not take the 990 on the Saturday dualsport. Ohio is wet when it's dry. You will enjoy the adventure ride and it's dirt roads.

Thank you

I want to thank Ed Groves, Ed Stube, Gray Daniels, My grandson Jacob Young and Fred LeCrone. Today that group nocked out 5 trail sections, built a set of bridges thru a beaver swamp and did it all for love of the sport.. I cannot wait to hear how the ADV layout is going
