Dot Robinson and the other women who started the Motor Maids were incredible women. What we call Adventure or Dual Sport riding today they simply called motorcycling. They were riding those big bikes on dirt roads that were rutted, muddy, sandy and just plain knarly. Not only that those big bikes didn't run smooth like today's bike and forget about suspension. Their bikes weren't dependable like our bikes are and they had to be able to do road/trail side repair.

I had the pleasure of meeting Dot Robinson 25 or so years ago she was past her prime but still an incredible woman and very much a lady.

Rainbow007 can tell you more about her as she knew Dot, more than just meeting her, as well as some of the other founding Motor Maids.

There are many women we are following in the footsteps (tire tracks) of and my helmet is off to each and every one of those incredible women that knew what motorcycling was all about.

They had a rally here in Bend over the summer. Pretty cool to see so many well traveled bikes cruising around town.

Congratulations you two!

Ohhhh...I hope your bike is running, too! I am so envious of the xcountry ride! I would love to do something like that...but, I'm afraid I would need a nurse or doc to go with me...HEHEHEHEHEHE

Put me down for hopefully in.

So I'm a hopeful maybe...

We'll be relocating back to the PNW stomping grounds in a few months (probably Bend-ish), and it would be great to meet up with some new folks/riders. Depends on job hunt situation and a maybe road trip situation. We'll see. Looks like a great spot for a ride and great (and hilariously awesome) company!

Cheers from SW Colorado, soon to be homeward bound for my Oregon! Can't wait.
