Question April Fools 2014 ????????????

Scott and Wibby,

This is what I found out about Ludlum. It will open May 01 to Oct 01 due to the Gov shutdown earlier this year. I emailed info to JD a couple of months ago, no response so far. Ludlum is already booked for first weekend in May by someone else.
There is another cabin that opens April 10th, but is more remote. I can try to book for April 11 and 12. The ride is more fun. Gravel for 5 to 7 miles depending on who calculates it, LOL. I have rented this and Ludlum off and on since 1995. This one is smaller but lots of room to camp.
Same "Farm Rules" as before, plus have to haul in your water and haul out garbage.
What say you guys?

Coastal campout 04/11-12/2014

OK, made and confirmed reservation for the cabin.

Friday April 11 through Sunday the 13th am.

Will write a blurb and post it with directions

It is out of Brookings, 25 miles up the North Chetco River Road.

There is some gravel, .

PACKERS CABIN, OR

part ofRogue River - Siskiyou National Forest, US Forest Service

Status: Closed through Thu Apr 10 2014 Season Dates

Cabin, Loop:C1, AREA PACKERS CABIN

Send me a pm to be on the list. We will have to share the rental expense among attendees. It's $89.00 divided equally, pretty good deal.

So you've reserved this smaller cabin that's up the road. Does it have a name or coordinates? Guessing that's $89 per nite devided by how many show up? Last question, is there lots of grass to camp out on as well?

-= Scott

EDIT - Is it the Packers Cabin?

April Fools 4/11-12/2014

Directions:
From Brookings, take U.S. Highway 101 and turn onto North Bank Chetco River Road, County Road 784. This becomes Forest Service Road (FSR) 1376. Follow this road to the junction with FSR 1917. Follow FSR 1917 for 5 miles to FSR 1917-110 Spur Road, the entrance to Packer’s Cabin. Travel time from Brookings is about an hour and a half, and easily accessible by highway and Forest Service roads.

General Notes:
  • No smoking
  • Pets are welcome with a leash!
Everyone bring a couple of firewood pieces for the sacrificial fire!
There is a small creek, but no longer tested. I will have a filter.
It's rugged up there! Wather can change quickly. It's the Siskiyous at 2,000 feet.
You all know what to bring for gear and supplies. Just remember, you will have to pack out garbage!

I like the fact it's a little more remote, and further from the tweaker camps. The GOOGLE PHOTOS along the Chetco look beautiful, I haven't been up there before. Coordinates are 42.24861986 -124.0792155. I also see a fire lookout really close to that.

Will be able to pick up water on the way up. Since I'll be riding, I aint' hauling firewood, but I will bring and small axe and folding saw. Looks like lots of trees around there as well.

Thanks for setting this up Roger. Look forward to seeing you out there on your new bike.

Now, where's Johnny D? Won't be the same without him there.

If the weathers decent we'll truck the bikes over the Cascades then ride from Grants Pass. If the weathers crappy we'll bring the van all the way there. Is there room for cages there?
