They have hours and hours and hours of footage and keep repeating clips of early on in the race thoughout the reports.

Kirby and Eurosport clearly don't like women either, Laia Sanz's incredible 16th place overall and her progress during the race was hardly even mentioned and not once did they have an insert on her SHAME on them,

I actually like Kirby's style, he gets that we're not watching it live and doesn't try to sound like it is. As for his delay he's probably got the French announcer track in his ear and translating it live.

As for Loeb, goodness yes! Of course he's French and this is French TV. Believe it or not there is actually much less re-cap this year but I agree totally on Sanz and can we at least get one story about the amateurs racing with nothing but a big white trunk for support?

Flash frames were all the rage here in the late 90's, I guess the French are just getting them.

Thank you Myway, this thread has been so useful to me (I am from the UK):

Valuable, even though I click it not so often:
- VLC instructions on use (I forget and have to read every year)
- Stage info - starting times, used a few times a week
- Time conversions - used a few times a week

Like most:
- Playlists/internet links - Watched France4 and Eurosports everyday, Fox sometimes, and of course Bolivian TV

Now I just need to learn French and Spanish

Myway, your VLC channel list was simply AWESOME thank you very much! Your F5 gold medal is totally deserved!

Who used it, where is he from:
Italy!

What did you use the most.
VLC with your "custom" channel list, mostly for France4 and sometimes Spanish TV. I used it also for Eurosport but I found it more "flowing" from web browser. Sometimes also Fox Sports SA from web browser. (I also think my internet connection is not that efficient...)
Then Radio Maray through VLC. They're great!

What is valuable, even you click it not so often.
Time conversions (most of the time I just followed the "It's on" posts for live contents)
Videos posted during the F5irehose. But I am going to check them all soon.

I used it as my first startpage of the day, say as my own favorits list. to shift quicker.
On the page:
start up new tabs, live timing, live feed, etc
check tv schedules.

who else did use it as a startpage and what links.
did you use the social media link page.etc.

and my "motto" was. Take your own way, and paste what i see in the f5irehose.

I couldn't get the playlist to work on my macbook.

When I understood what you had done with the individual channel links in your second post on this thread, then your efforts became invaluable. That was my misunderstanding, not a mistake on your part.

Those separate channel links were awesome. I could watch what I needed and was available to see.

On the mac, I used flip4mac, which is a free download, to watch the .wmv feeds. I used my ipad gen4 to watch the .m3u8 feeds.

My android phone was used to watch both using mxplayer (again, free).

Thank you very much for all your efforts, I owe you a beer. Actually, I owe you more than that. Come visit me in Canada, you've got a place to stay and a bike to ride.

I know the TV channels are the important ones to watch.

I asked this because I liked to have some inside on how the other links where used and how often.
And not so often, but valuable.
What could be skipped.

For example made some other playlist TV spain, all episode behind each other
Made the media page with facebook and twitter do you used that.
The page by number 1-13 to come to the stageday.

May be my question in the beginning was not clear enough.

FSN was my go to for live viewing and RTVE for evening viewing. I didn't get a chance to watch france, but I would have if my media laptop hadn't failed. EU is of course the goto engrish channel, so we have to have that one. The bolivian TV was the hands down best technically because of the DVR feature. I wish there was a local viewer that could use DVR features.... A VLC with a pause and rewind etc that records to a scratch HD.....

THAT would be awesome.

That playlist I am gonna watch it right now!
I am not very much into social networks myself, so during the race only I randomly checked for #Dakar or #Dakar2014 on Twitter. A couple of times into Franco Picco's twitter to know what was going on with his riders. And a couple of italian rally news websites as well (worldrallyraid.com / omnicorse.it). Only now I noticed your list and that is an incredible job!
The Dakar site I have also got sometimes to the feed pages, not very often (for timing only trackingdakar.com) but alreday had the web-link. Actually as you wrote this could have been a very useful frontpage, but, shame on me, I came here basically only looking for the TV coverage links. Next year I swear I am going to take it into a more serious consideration!
Thank you again Myway!
