A German publication which reportedly has close ties to Schumacher's family claims that doctors have stopped trying to bring him out of a medically-induced coma, because of unspecified complications.

It's getting close to two months since Michael Schumacher suffered his head injury. This is very discouraging news, if it's true.

Strangely the same newspaper published another article that essentially says the opposite:

Hopefully things are still going according to plan.

if he wakes up, that's one thing, but what his condition would be after this, is another. It is clear he has severe trauma in his brain, and brain tissue does not really heal, at least on a +40 yrs old it does not.

I still hope for the best like everybody else, but getting fully back in shape seems extremely unlikely.

There is a new article there, regarding the comments that leaked to the press recently regarding a ''miracle'' .
I really hope that he keeps fighting and he comes back....

It appears only hope and time remain. And that is no change from where he started. Miracles do happen and I'll continue to allow for that.

I sit here, very saddened by this, since I know and live with the consequences of a TBI and the time I spent with others suffering to, while in Rehab I hope the best for Michael, if and when he awakens he will have a long haul, God speed and a miracle or two I will be praying for you Michael and Corina Schumacher

Expert alarmed at Michael Schumacher's weight loss

Seven-time Formula One champion has reportedly lost 40 pounds since skiing accident.

An expert has said he is alarmed by reports seven-time Formula One champion Michael Schumacher has lost a quarter of his body weight while lying comatose in France.
Although the German's family, spokesperson Sabine Kehm and close friend Jean Todt insist they have not given up on the hope of full recovery, 12 weeks have now passed since the former Ferrari and Mercedes driver's skiing fall on the French Alps on Dec. 29.
According to published reports in Europe, the 45-year-old, 5-foot-10 inch Schumacher, who weighed about 165 pounds when he crashed on the Meribel slopes, has apparently lost more than 40 pounds while in the hospital.
Italy's La Gazzetta dello Sport and the major German daily Bild-Zeitung are now also reporting that Schumacher now weighs a little more than 120 pounds, which means he has lost more than a quarter of his former body weight.
"While a weight loss in coma patients is normal, [40 pounds] is a lot for people with normal body weights," said Professor Dr. Curt Diehm, of the Karlsbad teaching hospital in Germany. “One must assume that his muscles have degraded greatly due to the immobility.”

Not looking good for Schumi.....

Muscle atrophy. A lot of lbs but with no food intake or muscle contraction since Dec29 it is hardly surprising.

I heard his estate is worth about $750 million US.

I hope his wife and family are being looked after from the estate - he's in no mans land legally.
