As always, the CADS folks put on a great event!
Having an eighty six year old call girl for first place prize was just icing on the cake!

DRZ Submarine

So I've reviewed my roll chart. Still not sure where I screwed up. I must have been in the wrong place. I took a right (not a bear right) at the power lines. I don't see anything but a slight left ahead. But that's all besides the point. Good news is, unknowingly, the video camera was running.

The video demonstrates a series of bad decisions on my part. I expected some muddy grass. Tried to stay to the left but lost my line. The front wheel wound up cemented in mud above the axle. Water was to the bottom of the headlight but due to the steep angle, the air box stayed dry.

Unfortunately, I set my helmet/camera down and missed the heroic recovery.

After what seems to have been about an hour, we got it out by running ratchet straps as high as possible to a nearby tree. With that constant upward tension and using tire irons to dig around the wheel, we each grabbed handle bar and had a synchronized seizure that pulled it out. After draining a little water from the carb it was good to go.

Memorable to say the least!

Holy crap that is funny. Your front tire went right into the hole that Thad's big nine-fiddy dug out. Thats unfortunate that you were behind us, otherwise the DRZ would probably have been fine. I think the roll chart was confusing at this place, but this made the day interesting. Thats why they call it adventure riding

Great fun and a strong reminder to me to pack some recovery gear! I was out this weekend and took a left when I should have gone right and nearly ended up in a swamp like that.

Glad y'all made an adventure out of it!!!

Matt pulled his drive shaft last night, & this is what was left of it. Good thing he stopped when he did or it could have made for a really bad day.

Here's the photo after that big water hole. It was up to the lower portion of your seat.
