Death Valley Campout 2015
We had a great time out in Death Valley National Park this past weekend for our annual campout. With the help of our friends next door at Long Beach BMW Motorcycles we took more than 30 riders out to enjoy some of the most beautiful desert and mountain scenery you'll ever see. Whether riding the smooth blacktop that snakes through the southern Sierras or navigating some desolate dirt trails, the group had a great time exploring the area and bonding with fellow riders.
Participants met at Long Beach BMW Motorcycles Friday morning to check in, pack up their gear, and get to know their fellow riders.
Then it was time to hit the road.
After a scenic ride over the Angeles Crest Highway and into the California high desert, groups took a lunch break in Randsburg, CA.
Amongst the old shops and relics we found most of an old Bultaco.
The groups started arriving at the Panamint Springs campground Friday afternoon.
Riders set up their campsites and settled in.
Motorcyclists bonded over stories, unique desert hats, and their common love for life on two wheels.
Along with the many BMW riders, we had a few riders on KLRs and even a Kawasaki Versys.
Riders fueled up with a breakfast buffet before Saturday's ride.
And mapped out some routes for group rides.
Some riders opted for street while others explored the canyons.
One of the most unique features of riding in the area is that you can ride from below sea level to peaks higher than 6,000 feet in under an hour, and the views don't disappoint.
And after a long day of riding we slept beneath the wide open desert sky.
Check back for news on our next weekend campout, and in the meantime mark your calendars for Tuesday, April 28th when we'll be hosting our next live webinar. Phil and Brenden will discuss riding in Alaska, and you can join in the discussion live on the Google Hangout or you can watch the broadcast on YouTube. Check the Facebook event here, where we'll be posting links and instructions to join in when we get closer to the event.
