They've been doing this stuff at this pace, for a decade... and having seen some of Marc's mx training this year... he can still go Bam Bam fast when (and if) he wants to... Cyril much the same (maybe a little more reserved but with more finess also).

Well done Bathurst boy The folks at home will be going ape shit! Ben comes from Eglinton, Bathurst NSW... about 50 k's from where I grew up... and has been earmarked as a champ in the local dirt track, mx and enduro circles since about the age of 7 Well done Grabbo!

Hate to say it... but no... Cyril Neveu won several stages in 1979 at age 23 and went on to win five Dakar titles...
Just like you said Troy ...

Gonçalves:
"Today I had a good chance to attack and improve my starting position. The first part of the stage went well, however, in the dunes section, suffered a problem with my bike, caused by a 'lock' on the cooling system, and lost some time. Anyway, the general position is very good after only two days of racing, the differences in the times are still very small, "

Shane Diener lost a lot of time, dropping from 25th to 54th at the finish of todays stage, any word on the reason?

"What a fast fast stage! It's was 360 km SS with fast tracks, constantly looking for another gear, with the throttle as open as it could go-155 at times as the load got lighter. And then into the dunes-massive they were, but not the biggest yet, and then it was another story, on the rev limiter on 1st and 2nd! It's unbelievable hot and I have to contend with the dust most of the day of other riders, lots of huge rocks as well.
It's bloody tough, but I'm loving it, just taking it easy, not pushing to hard, it's a long way to go.
And tomorrow is day one of the first marathon stage, so no service crew tomorrow night.
And the bike is going well, feels strong."

Go Allan

I have been thinking about the unconfirmed stage shortening tomorrow and recon two major reasons contribute to this possible decision:

1) Its almost 5pm and only 65% of the bike field is in.
2) Its marathon stage tomorrow and the organisation may be concerned that it knocks out what is otherwise a very exciting competiton, and perhaps some of the smaller factory teams.

Im thinking of Sherco. I wont mention Yamaha because it wouldn't be right to.

What do the pundits say?

Where are those of us in N. America getting the highlights (/fix) online? Is there even a N. American media blackout this year again?

TIA for any assistance.
Such as it is, NBCSports @4P today thru Thursday. After that, who knows; stupid DirecTV channel guide only covers 3 days.

I would be surprised if we are still talking about half these riders this time next week?

No he's not, the French said he was a "pilote Britannique" so it must be true. We've even given him a new nickname, he's now Pommie not Grabbo (or Grabbie maybe).
