JMo ,

"(certainly the way some of you lot go on about Laia!)"

A few of us here, support Laia as a result of the Huge achievements she's made in the sport of motorcycling. I've followed her career for many years now.

She's competing directly with all others in the Dakar, and is showing her talents. At times I could be read / heard as being a bit sexist about women's racing results, especially by someone looking towards that 'agenda', but I believe in nothing but absolute equality, and that a woman can compete directly against men in nearly all ventures. Well, their physiological differences, in some cases, are above those of blokes (just as they are below mens in some cases - swings and roundabouts, as they say). So, I judge women racing, against all competitors efforts. Sex related excuses, earn my scorn, instantly. By either sex. Especially Motorcycling - there are very few "man mountains" that do that well in motorcycling, so physical differences, I see as entirely spurious excuses.

Laia is a multi world champion, who, as I last saw, was currently in 18th outright. I really hope she keeps it going, and betters her previous best (34th, outright??????? - I'm probably wrong on that).

She's a fantastic competitor , at the highest of levels, in her current sporting endeavors.

So, I'm 'rooting' for her, very very hard - in the American sense, not the Aussie sense.

Penalty accepted. Quoted the wrong post and answered another one you'd already answered. I be shame. Maybe it's time for a nap.

Give this man a job as a 'real time' translator at the UN - there'd never be a misunderstanding!

And so it begins to get quiet tonight. Family priorities have kept me on the lurker sidelines this year, but I've been keeping up with the firehose. Has the pace slowed a bit this year? It seems as though my morning mission of catching up is less intense perhaps, at least up until this point.

Gutted over the high number of withdrawals this year. Canyongate is shaping up to be the big controversy this year, but there are many more days to go...

I miss Rally RAIDio call-ins. But the insider perspective of former participants in this thread is a huge benefit to us fans who will never see the start line as a competitor or even a spectator.

Long live the F5irehose.

Not much. Although besides determining that he's out of the race we've also been able to determine that it's possible that Grabbo, in fact, isn't a Brit at all. It seems he may be an Aussie, a Kiwi, or possibly a North Korean.

Stay tuned as more information emerges and we make a final determination.
