... and there are more photos incoming!

there typically are a few (thousand) more photos that trickle in over the next few days; MCH still has to upload the second half of the rally, webventure pretty much skipped to the podium, and missed stage 13 all together (as did most of the sites). and i'm sure there will be a few more photo essays tomorrow to celebrate the finish.

keep your eyes peeled here, or subscribe to the Dakar 2014 Photo F5rehose if you still want to see more, and can't fathom another ~350 days until next year's race without more photos!

Thank You ADVriders

Thanks again for another great Dakar. For a lazy Dakar fan, without ADVrider I would have to depend on the lies NBC Sports brings me for 30 minutes a day (plus, they still have not shown the last 2 days of the race ).

My thoughts as it is all over.
I was introduced to the Dakar in 04. At the time Red Bull KTM USA was hopefull to put an american on the podium in a three year span.

Why bring these riders up?
I learned that these guys were all really really fast.
...but, Blais stood out because at the end of the day, when his bike came back to the pits there was nothing or very little to be done. He could ride really really fast, and at the same time take care of the bike. This is (IMO) what makes an Alien.
Blais's made it to the podium in 07, but his journey to become an Alien got cut short due to a spinal injury in the Vegas to Reno race.

Back to the present.
In this years race we could see who could ride fast and bring the bike to the pits with little maintenance to be done. Over the 14 days this became important. for the little guys, AND the big guys.
Can the ability to ride fast and take care of the bike be taught (Barrada)?
Finishing the Dakar with no motor change is going to be the difference in the podium.

Again, Thank You All. I had a great Dakar due to all of you!!!!
Long Live ADVrider!!!!

Regarding Dakar files it was 16 years ago...

We had little competition for my blog readers and this question was there as well and one guy discovered, that rider with name Flick won first stage from Paris to Narbonne with 10km long special (not prologue, regular special) at La Chatre on Honda.
So it looks like its not Gilles Lelay, but rider with name Flick 16 years ago.
Francious Flick (not sure of the spelling) but if i recall correctly he was riding an XR400. Very wet stage...

With co-efficient calculation (3) to account for extra web/data accessing, format and sheer quality of content; that makes this years unquestionable F5 Gold medallist - MYWAY on 1560 vitual posts! (F5 Dakar record?)

Silver medallist, riding debut on the F5 mod f5actory team - Bluebull on 1250 virtual posts (1.3 coefficient applied for extra Cliff note SS mileage). Another f5antastic effort always on the f5irehose and always on the gas!

and Bronze Medallist, the eternal F5 f5actory Alien himself... Flood!!! on 741 virtual posts (co-efficent 3 for "Cliff Note" and general behind the scenes "off piste" navigation). had it not been for a very sporadic and poor showing by Flood's watercarrier (me ) in the off piste stages, he may well have pushed up over the magic 1000 virtual post threshold... but true F5 alien that he is he pushed on throgh to post yet another great result for the f5irehose team.

Special Recognition Medal is awarded unanimously to Misc - for services over and above the call of duty - by the provision of his simply f5antastic dakartracker site. Without which NONE of the above posts would have contained anywhere NEAR the accuracy of information and timing intervalls, to enable us to speculate and waffle on in anyway like the fashion that we are able. So the "Kurt Caselli" memoriam vote of thank's from all of us here at F5 goes deservedly to Mischa!!!

And with that, we conclude the virtual poduim presentation, another great year on the f5irehose - and set the thread free on the winds of the interweb as a sacrifice to the gods of cyberspace.

Baldy... thank's again for having us!
