Big, big THANK YOU to all the F5 irregulars who scoured all media and posted it here ASAP. Thank you to all the Dakar & other rally veterans who gave us their insight into what it's really like to be there and what might be going on in the heads of the riders, crew and officials. And thanks to everyone else, like me, who was just along for the fun.

Rally on!

Honorary Bronze Medalist

Seems to me like the (Frenchy) ASO is now deciding the virtual podium placings of the F5irehose Competition. And now also with Team (MOD) Orders in mind. (Cough, cough)

Hi Uller

Carlos contribution to the f5irehose was immense, substatial and many posts thoroughly informative and accurate... and yes he was the BRONZE medallist in the scratch standings. His - as many others too numerous to mention - contributions are what MAKES the firehose unique . the collective knowledge and variation of viewpoint/perspectives... which is why i put up the printout.

The recognition of flood as the virtual bronze medallist is nothing but an attempt to highlight what a tireless jo remi does on both the hose, the cliff notes AND the general mod housekeeping. That's all.

Thanks EVERYONE

I understand. Was just trying to give a shout out to Carlos in a fun way and commend him for his efforts. Thanks to you, as well, for all that you contribute each and every year. It wouldn't be the same without you and all the other Mods that provide countless hours of support.

N EWS just in off the plane from Chilé

I think 690 RR might still be jet lagged, cause the first post he made when he got home to Norway was on the AUSSIE forum 2014 DAKAR thread... but here is what he has to say...

and there's some interesting insider opinion from the Speedbrain camp...

Do not feel sorry about Barreda, he got what he deserved, he kept chasing Coma after direct order to retreat and maintained second position. He damaged lives of many who needed that second place, people who pay for all this stuff. And believe me I know, as he still is primary contracted as a Speedbrain rider, although "rented" to Honda.

Honda paid all of Barreda's bills...... I am sure Speedbrain recieved compensation for the "rental". Barreda was marching to Honda"s orders which required him to push for VICTORY... and not a 2nd or 4th place... Barreda did not deserve to run out of gas nor did he deserve 15 minute penallty because the electrics failed to put him on notice of the speed zone. Read his interview....

What part of "won the next stage" don't you understand.....? If Barreda did it on junk then that would make him TOP ALIEN.

Maybe someday that style will work for him

I like Quinn C, but his style is similar. Raw fucking pace, right up till the sudden stop, somewhat short of the finish control

The guys who have 4 and 5 wins each dont ride that way. Jordi didnt ride that way. Olivier didnt ride that way. Its not required. He could have podiumed. Ergo, it was a failed strategy. I imagine that he would have been faster had he gone slower.

On the other hand, yeah how can you not love his enthusiasm. I just want to enjoy him till he's doing dakars at 39, and one of those crashes he's not going to get back up from.

Cyrils not happy, but not sad. Nah.. He's not happy I think he can pull it together. Crazy that he missed a WP... I mean, when the last WP that he missed? 2002?
