Because people don't know how to use safety wire anymore.

If one spoke breaks, the broken spoke slapping around will cause problems including more broken spokes. Safety wire/zip ties hold it in place.

Fuel support costs are up on Mag7.com . It's crazy to not take them up on all the stops (only 5 pits), the cost is so stinkin' affordable.
All you're paying for is the fuel, maybe a slight overcharge but nothing out of line. There's not 1 flat per gallon fee, it's based on what fuel you want.
And considering gas is more expensive down there (diesel too) than in So.Cal. the $5.25/g aint nothin' IMO. You're talking max of $80 total for gas at those 5 pits, easy deal.

But you DO need to register with Mag7 (now, not later) and pre-order the amounts you'll need at each pit so they can transport the correct amounts.

You still need to fuel your bike at evenings/mornings and along the way each(?) day at Pemex's (or from my support trucks if you're on our support dealio). A few of the Pemex stops might be a bit interesting, especially if they happen to have long line or out of gas. If you're with my gang (about 13 of you) I'll fill you in with the best logistics for your bikes mileage.

Dammit,,, looks like so much FUN, i'm getting the bug, but I'm not gonna race.

Looking at the Mag7 locations I'm going to run by them (mag7) moving pit1 north a bit and #4 south a bit. IMO it will make the sections easier considering where the Pemex's are. Anyone who understands the locations (bajadad? strongbad?) have input on that?

I'm brainfarting, how many recent years we been doing Mex1k? 4?
Moto winners were myself, Gabe Williams, Octavio Valle, and Justin Morgan if I recall correctly. I missing someone?
No Justin this year, he's busted up.
Does the event need to be won by a woman now? Maybe we sign up Jennifer to show you guys how it's done? ;-)

Tim,

I think Mag7 is already taking your suggestion and has moved Pit 1 from west of Camalu to west of Colonet.

Is Pit #4 the one between San Ignacio and El Rosarito. If so, then last year they put the pit at San Juanico, which seems like a better location - a little past half way of the stage. The El Datil location would leave a pretty long run between there and the finish of the stage for those with limited fuel range - especially if they run through the sand washes again.

Sign Jennifer up! I don't mind moving further down the finishing order...

Yep Galactic, you're right on with that #4 location, makes a long haul out to Hwy.1 and of course more miles for those that don't have a truck waiting at Hwy.1. Mag7 a few miles before Juanico would split it nice consumption wise.

Wasn't the pit right at the pavement/corner at San Juanico last year? We didn't use that pit, but there were more than spectators there when we went by in the BFG Blazer. Sadly, the Blazer won't be run this year
