A 140 will look like a car tire on your 4.50 rear rim
You can get the 150 and cut to central strip to bring the knobs back:

(this is not my tire, I was planning to cut mine when I realized how much I hated the Heidenau so I relocated it on the trash can at 4,000 km and went back to Scorpions)

Has anyone ran Metzeler Karoo 3 on anything? Looks like it would be a great 50/50.

I have one on my XR. It sounds like an air raid siren. It works OK but is annoying as fuck.

How about this: http://www.goldentyre.com/en/dt_port...-enduro-onoff/

With that: http://www.goldentyre.com/en/dt_port...enduro-on-off/

Or: http://www.goldentyre.com/en/dt_port...-enduro-onoff/

I used the GT200/205 Combo on my 990 many times and I am very happy with them.

how are the 1190 rims sealed up inside where the spokes come through the rim? is it a simple rim tape or something a bit more interesting?

Something a bit

More complicated. A large rubber band that fits into a groove in the rim.

Harold,

Did you get your E09 on yet? My tires have not arrived but I am interested in how the E09 fairs in the wet vs my E07 rear. One Pacific Northwet rider to another :)

This set in particular looks about perfect for what I want on my 1190! Is there a US distributer somewhere??!?!?!!!

Karoos review

I just finished a 500 mile trip on my new karoos on my 1190 Adventure R. Keep in mind I have nothing to compare to except the stock tires. The 500 miles was a mix of street and dirt roads. I didn't try them on sugar sand yet.

I'm really very pleased with them. The only negative remark is that I am a bit surprised at how shallow the tread is.

No they didn't whine.

I ran them up to 100mph without any wobble or issues.

Now it's just a matter of seeing how long they last.

I have the new Karoo 3 on the front and K60 on the rear (could not get the Karoo rear in on time for a ride so had to go with the K60). I like the Karoo, and am still not a big fan of the K60. The Karoo front works well on gravel, ok in sand (not great, but what does!) decent in mud (though only had a very small amount of mud) and better than I thought it would on the road...it gets squirrley when braking hard on the road but provides tons of feedback. Will see how it goes durability wise.

The K60 is a tire and it keeps the rim off the road.

The Karoo either has a soft sidewall or the rims on the 1190 are made of butter...I was running 28 psi on some max 3rd gear gravel roads and managed to dent my front rim. I never felt I hit anything particularly hard, only did a few very small jumps. Very annoying.

I just finishes a 4000 kms (2500 miles) trip with 40 % road, 50 % gravel and 10% sand. Overall I can say that the TKC's handle very well in all surfaces and just a small vibration over 100 miles/hr (TKC says max speed is 100). But god, this lady like to eat tires.. my rear tire is completely done but completely , I can get another extra mile from it.. so changing a tire every 2,5 k miles it will be very expensive.... now just got a Pirelli MT90 on the rear and will see if it takes a little bit longer to wear out...
