How much should I pay for a dumped Bandit?

My local dealer has a 2001 Bandit 1200S that's been down. The bars are tweaked, the levers are broken, and the left side of the fairing is scratched and has a primer spot or two. The headlight is very scratched and there are a few other blemishes on the bike. It only has 2600 miles on it, and rides just fine, but I know that plastics are expensive to replace. I was going to replace the bars and levers, cover the fairing with carbon fiber vinyl and buff out the headlight. Shouldn't cost a whole lot to fix, but I don't want to get screwed on the bike. The asking price right now is $2995, but I think that's pretty high for a bike that's been wrecked and not repaired. It has a clear title so that's not a problem. NADA has it at $3055 for low retail, but it's the end of the season and I think they should do better especially since they've had the bike in for a while.
Thanks in advance,
Scotty

That's high, there is a nice 02 here with 11k miles on it..mint..and they askin 3900, likely take 3500, so basically 5 bills gets you all fixed with no risk of a bent frame. I'd pass.

Wait till winter, walk in with $1500 cash.

Hell I wouldn't give $1500 for a pristine Bandit.

Don't forget some of the 01 Bandit 12's had an oil use issue. Check some of the Bandit forums for details.

Good point. That does make them an extra edgy purchase.

Bandit

Hey, any of you guys want to go to the dealer with me and be the second baseman? I'd pay $1500 in a heartbeat for that thing. You are making me second-guess the purchase though. Maybe I'll just keep the Seca in my garage and make it a street fighter.

It shouldn't be hard to buy a nice, un-mashed Bandit for $ 3000.

Go In With A Hauler And Offer Your Services

Drive a truck that looks the business and offer to haul the thing away for fifty. If stars lined up right, they just might settle on that less the paying-you-fifty part. Be ready to haul the thing away. You might wanna wait for a while longer, I doubt that thing is going anywhere anytime soon.

What Kind Of A Deal Is That?

You wanna go from a perfectly OK Seca to a beat-up Bandit? Come now, there all sorts of exciting, clean used bikes out there. Buy from an owner, you rarely get a deal from a dealer. Motorcycle dealers often have funny ideas about pricing. It's a crazy niche market, y'know.
