Interesting

First it sounds like the filters did their job. Second, no dealer "sent" you to Mexico. That was your decision.

I come here mainly for information on how to fix things on my bike so I can continue to ride and not be in the OP's situation. This site is a wealth of information with a network of people willing to give you the shirt off their back if you are in need.

I'm willing to bet there was at least one person close to the OP's hotel that has the parts and the knowledge to fix the bike in an hour but it's all about the attitude ....... I wouldn't have offered either after reading.

I can fix many things but I can't fix stupid!

dealers, thats KTM's biggest let down. 90% of them are worthless. ok if you ride a dirt bike/carbed thumper

1190 guys are laughing.....wait till your water pump seal goes. 990 WP is a walk in the park compared to them

Better stated than I ever could have. I can't imagine being anywhere in the US and not being able to hook up with somebody who could help me with parts / knowledge - and largely because of this site. This dolt thinks he's broadcasting his vast experience and lending credibility to claims of KTM weakness.

He's actually exposing what an abject failure he is at being a world traveler, evidenced by surrendering and crying upon encountering the first insignificant inconvenience. It's laughable.

I can't believe I just read this entire fucking thread. So is it fixed? At least it reminded me to order some fuel filters.

I hate myself for this same reason.

Also +1 to Lurkerlou's comments. If anything this thread exposes the willingness of OC members to go out of their way to assist another. It also exposes the pussification that's killing this forum (along with the 1190 threads)

I've also been browsing/shopping for fuel filters since reading TFT

let's give OP the benefit of the doubt for there are folks with little to no mechanical ability. reason why folks are groaning .. changing out fuel filters/fuel pumps are relatively low on the difficulty scale.

hind sight is 20/20 .. correct thing to do would have been issue a request for help.

"On the way to Mexico .. stuck for for 4 days unless I can find spare KTM 990 fuel filters and fuel pump"

KTM 990 riders are not exactly rare in Texas ... as common as filter/fuel pump issue are .. folks would have crawled out of the woodwork ... odds are someone would have given you their spare parts and help you install and had you back on the road in short order .. on top of taking you out to dinner and putting you up for the night.

All I can say since I acme back from supper is there is a real difference between the posts from real riders and the pretenders that drink Orange cool-aid

Thought somebody might offer ...oh, i know a parts manager in Dallas or I know a FedEx driver in Houston or I know a KTM specialist in Laredo that can get you the parts you've been waiting four days for...

Little help, Orange diarrhea.

That's what separates the few real riders on this website from time wasting trolls

This thread makes me want to purchase some shares of KTM, anyone know the ticker?

Aside from it being the fastest growing motorcycle in the world for 2013, I didn't realize they sell so many filter kits.

Seriously, I can't miss out on a few shares
