Kickstarts are available at your new fwends Motobins http://www.motobins.co.uk/bmw-parts.php?model=R Series 2 valve Twin

As Padders pointed out they are really only for emergencies.
Welcome to the flat side of motorcycling.... they grow on you...1,2,3,4....um

PD bumble bee

http://micapeak.com/bmw/gs/gs_color.htm

does not appear to be a original colour BUT WAIT.

NZ was/is a small market and as far as I am aware we used to order the bikes colours /specs as we wanted them.

Your bike is not a one off as there is also one in Wellington same colour etc. Saw a picture of the bike on here or kiwibiker. Box a bits maay no. You could always ask Ross in Blenheim as he is a wealth of knowledge.

yeah but with the yellow fork legs it would have to be more than a repaint. up-speced which would cost a shitload

If you need more leg room, you can try Fastway or Pivot Pegs which can be mounted lower than standard.

On my GS I needed more room to accommodate my stuffed right knee so we had to do a bit of modifying to bring the pegs more to the rear and lower.

Fastway Pegs

Modified - You may have to change the gear lever length.

This bloke sells footpegs similar to mine.http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=871533

Looking at that micapeak site makes me think it started life as a standard r100gs. My paint code is 640 which the only PD to have that is the classic which came out in 1994.Mine has the large speedo and tacho that PDs are not sposed to have.

Oh, It is a Jap import though, so who knows. It all looks good to me.

I think you will find that the PD did come with the big tacho and speedo.

By '92 they all sported the large tach. The 640 paint code will be swartz (black).

PDs were originally available as a kit (tank, fairing, bra etc) or ex factory.

GSs also had a bumblebee option.

So there is no real reason that it couldn't have come ex factory as a bumble bee, or, as you say, it may have been converted ex factory. Oh, & saw this

What sort of rear shock does it have? Standard, or white power? Or something else?

So, if you're planning on travelling back "home" and wish to buy an airhead to get about on, looks like Steptoe is the man to contact. At least you know he could do it up properly.

I'll be expecting a visit from the Nelson airheads. Old Basil is still in AKL, though.

Congrats on the purchase. If you need any links to sites selling slippers, pipes and knitted jumpers, let me know......and I'll ask Padmei where he get's the stuff from
