Interesting backroads aren't slab, INTERSTATE is slab. 4 lane limited access roads are slab, roads where yo see 10 times as many semis as you do cars is slab. BTW, do you gear your bike down to "enjoy" those back roads?

he didn't say they were

example, point A, Inman, South Carolina

point B, Glory Hole Falls, Arkansas, where the non slab roads you want to explore are

you have a 4 day weekend

Funny, I did ride something similar a few months ago because when I moved from AR to SC I had left my truck and a couple bikes back in AR and drove here in a U-haul pulling a trailer. So I rode my Strom back to pick up my truck. The ride from here to about 150 miles into TN was great. The last 200 miles through North Central and NW AR was great Everything in between sucked balls. I stayed off the interstates as much as I could, but the straight, flat, boring farm roads were still tedious. But even then I never felt the need to gear my Strom down.

If that was true you wouldn't choose to sit in a cage or even uncomfortably sleep in one over riding.

And maybe you even would choose better, longer lasting tyres to have more time to ride and loose less time to tyre changes.

Sorry for you that you have to aim for every excuse not to ride.

Stop feeding the troll. It's clear his opinion is the only one that counts. The rest of us will be quite happy doing miles of slab on our way to great riding areas.

I'm happy any time I am on my bike. And to keep on topic, I love to lug my bike. I don't do it for any reason other than that's what I like. And I respect the ones who enjoy revving to the moon. To each their own.

the gearing of any vehicle will always be a balancing act between acceleration and low RPM cruising at high speed, why do you think new cars have 8 speed transmissions? Between cruising at minimum RPMs on the highway and sufficient acceleration, manufacturers always lean toward acceleration because a vehicle has a maximum load that it is designed to still be able to accelerate with and they don't have an unlimited quantity of gears available.

But they're starting to! CVT's are getting ever better and are the perfect solution the ever more complexly geared auto's. Nothing like the engine being pegged to max HP and the car speeding up to suit. The transmission characteristics throw a lot of people off though.

Uncomfortable? Dude, I can sleep on an airplane in coach for 8 hours straight and wake up refreshed. My Tundra is 10 times more comfortable then an airplane. And sleeping while I'm riding my motocycle is pretty damn dangerous.

There are no such thing as better, long lasting tires. There's either long lasting which is relative to who's riding on them as just an example I get about 2500 miles out of a Pilot Road 3 on a 55 HP V-Strom, or there's better.

Sure, I'm not surprised that someone who exercises sleeping in cars to avoid riding, can as well refreshingly sleep in airplanes.

There's no reason why I should hate either. It's your thing if you do everything you can to avoid riding. Just don't claim everyone who doesn't, did it wrong or had no fun.

I was referring to the being able to sleep anywhere part. Maybe if you looked at the lighter side of life you might sleep better?
