Ferry to Galveston

I took it it's free. 24/7. I'm actually in Galveston now. Long cold day yesterday. Heading out this am. Going to ride the coast down to Freeport, then up 36 and across 90 to Gonzales and then up to Austin. I will be in Austin for 4 days. If you make it over there hit me up we can go ride the 3 sisters.

I toured through new Orleans In about three hours. Unique is about right.

I'm in Covington now. Should be warm enough to camp out before lake Charles.

Remember to head SW at Galveston, all tha' way to the gulf, thence continue as close to the coast line as possible. Last time I was over that way the road was freshly rebuilt from a Hurricane. The thousands of structures along that route -- well, not so much.

Damn. I wish I would've seen this thread earlier.

I would've bought you a meal and a beer in Baton Rouge.

I always stumble upon these threads too late.

If you come back through my area, send me a PM.

Cool. I'm fairly dry here in corpus Christi.

Should snow in Victoria.

I'm thinking about going to Brownsville

I'm going to check out mustang island state park and port Aransas tomorrow morning.

Still going to be in the 30s. And foggy. But the high will be 52 and clear.

LOL, I rode the "Three Sisters" in 2010. The "twisted" part must have come later.

jacked up the first play from scrimmage

I went the wrong way that morning halmc.

I went west from the hotel. I rememby thinking that Corpus Christi was megaa big. After I saw the interstate 35 sign I knew I ffed this thinks up.
d
It was windy bad, so I just pushed to hill country.

Its day 28 now.

I resting here in Austin.

I I wish I could typeo up my trip, but this nexus 7 is horrible for mass typing.

I do not recommend the nexups 7

I also should have done more trip planning research. The esprit die corps from Advrrider I thought I'd get on the road is the biggest let down.
In northern weotstieorn FL, when I asked for advice on a good garagie to go to, I get several post back, and halmc taking me in. In Texas I get nothing.
So its feast or famine. Just like in real life.

I figuried it was a karma thing, so today I went to the trip planning thread section and helped out there a little today.

The best thing is the stealth camping. I did four stiealth camps in a row out of Corpus Christi here in hill country. One so good that i created a gear cache to go off roading with othuers which nenver happened. I may go back to it this Friday. A big Roger Ranger no no. Can't be caught short stepping with Vvictor Charles out there in the bush.

PS
It took way too long to type this on the nexus. Not a good product.

It does have a small size and good battery life. And without WiFi it will tell you where you are on the free nav app.

Found the STICKY camp site thread. Put name in hat.

I'm disappointed in not looking into this months ago. No one to blame but myself.

More pics if you can. Many of us who can't go live through others like yourself.

Actually, the roads were just called the Twisted Sisters back in the 80's and 90's.
Great report and sorry I just come across it. As luck would have it, you passed though South Louisiana in a freakish extra cold time. Hope you enjoy the rest of the trip. Maybe on your way back, you can hug the coast more from Port Arthur to Cameron.
Keep it coming.

Good advice. Good points.

1. It is the off season for day tripping.
2. Cold winter.

I do need to take my time more. Day 29 was good to go. I recommend anyone to check out the capital here in Texas.

Looking at my latitude, I'm going to head due east here and see what happens in NOLA. I've stepped up my networking game, and folk seem friendly on the Bayou. I just road through NOLA, and would like to see more of her.

From there I'd find the Natchez trail and go up to Cleveland, Mississippi. Then east to Atlanta. Then north into the mountains and back to base camp.. Should be about early March by then.
