Rode the Trace a few years ago. Lots of history, some free campgrounds. The best part is the northern end. Make sure you ride a section of the "old" trace.

Nice time of year to be riding the south. Doesn't take long to go from winter to summer. If you make it back this way and need anything in the Florida Panhandle or middle AL shout out.

I responded in another thread, but I am in Bastrop and have a good mechanic or a garage full of tools depending on what you need. If you are still in town, shoot me a pm with your number and Ill see what I can do.

Temps change often.

Last night in Humble, TX I did not even need a sleeping back.

A few days before near Kerrville, my last three toes were numb.

Thanks for the helping hand.

Nothing is a matter. I wanted to go by the warranty as best I could and have a garage do the service. However that is not a big deal unless it is a BMW.

Thanks to halmc, we did a oil and filter change back on 1800 miles.
I'm on 4400 now. I'll get another oil and filter change done in the NOLA area.

After that I should be at my base camp for the big 7500 mile service.

Thanks again.

No worries. Are you still in the austin area? I could always use an excuse to go ride.

I'm in Youngsville, LA. SOUTH OF Lafayette.

My $80 national park has a lot of opportunities in Mississippi.

I'll check out the historically battlefield.
Thanks for the scouting report.

I love Louisiana - lived in Nola 4 years and did tons of camping. The city is awesome.

Check out couchsurfing.org for folks who might have a garage to store your bike and a sofa for a few nights -- it's worth at least 3 days in the city, happy to provide my recommendations if you like!

Travis stopped in for the evening. In addition serving him up a local favorite of grilled bacon wrapped shrimp for dinner, we turned him onto the local cultural experience that is Mardi Gras. He headed out this morning in pretty questionable weather. He tried to shoot through a break in two walls of thunderstorms and I'm afraid the timing may have been off a bit. We enjoyed your company Travis. Happy trails.

Day 35 has gone well

I made of to Hammond and stayed fairly dry. I hung out at a exon\subwayf for about 3.5hours. I talked to some good pepole and did some math and reviewed some things. I'm about at $45\day on Out of pocket expenses.

I pulled into Natchez before1600.

I'm going to Walmart next then getting on the parkway.

Paul, thank you for the hospitality and good time. It was great hanging out I felt really rested today.

Great photo -- glad you got to experience some of the parades earlier in the season, those are always my favorites (over the big parades in the week and a half just before Mardi Gras)

Which parade did you get to see?

Krewe of Caesar in Metairie. Uptown and the Quarter are better, but this one was a short walk from my house.

Linked up with Erronous Monk

Thanks got better about 40 mics later.

I hooked with a Canuck, who was fixing to go camp south of Crosby.

Good stuff. Great guy. He's a plank owner of the 2nd gen KLR.

he had a lot of great stories and such. I'm going to hang out with him for the next couple of days. We are in centerville, just north of LA. Will prepare the camp later for the main group. I may stay for the weekend.

Walk off home run thanks to Paul's play call to shoot the gap on the 55 to get to Hammond.
