who is driving.
I disagree, traffic congestion does matter.
In the bay area to many people for various reasons just do not see a M/C,
the long odds are stacked against you.
I agree with you in the sense of riding in/through the City. The odds are just stacked against you. 880 is in MHO better than 101 from San Jose to the Bay Bridge.

Pick your times, pick your battles. I ride 300 miles a week though the shit but do it off commute, over the SM bridge and make it work. To each their own, it's like hookers, not risk free

Where do you recommend living and why?

We prefer hotter weather and have stuff to do walking distance e.g. restaurants, groceries etc

I'm 33 y/o and moving with my fiance.
We are looking either to rent or maybe buy a small place.

Thank you for your help!

Hi All,

Just to give you a quick update. I got an offer and passed the background check!

Now just waiting for the lawyers to get me the paper work to process the visa.

It looks like I'm going back to California after almost 7 years

I miss the ADV community in Cali and all the amazing off-road riding in the region

Let's just hope he's not moving to Sonoma County
It's just too close to real trails, the beach, under a hour to City, but I guess it could be worse

I will probably move to SF at the end of March or beginning of April.

The company will provide at least 2 months of free corporate housing "in the city" and I might be able to extend that by another month.

These 2-3 months will give me an opportunity to get a better feel of the area. I'm looking at buying a used KTM to explore around. I already have BMWs, Suzukis and Yamaha bikes (bc of moto rental business) so it is time to see what the KTM is all about!

Just FYI I crossed Africa last year on a F800GS two-up with my girlfriend and did all of Latin America solo in 2006 with a F650GS Dakar.

In the area tour we visited a few neighborhoods in the city and a few towns/cities in the peninsula all the way south to Mountain View. We did not visit any area outside the peninsula.

So far we (my gf) liked a couple places around mission/dolers st. We also liked San Mateo.

The company is located in South San Francisco so the commute from the "city" is not that bad and pretty closed to San Mateo. I have start working at 7am because working closely with Europe so I will miss most of the rush hour traffic.

Let's see how many of you FFs I get to meet once I move out there!

I'm not very familiar with the neighborhoods themselves, but San Mateo might be pretty good location wise. Hwy 92 will take you to the coast, or get you out of the Bay Area headed east pretty quickly.

What KTM are you thinking, maybe a 690 or 990 supermoto? The 690 would be a hoot around The City.

I was thinking a 950 Adventure... or a 500 street legal... I'll go base on any good deal available.
