The Boulder County link does not show the meeting date. Cant confirm it on their site to make sure date and time is correct. Can anyone pull it up on the Boulder County site?

I've added it to my calendar. I went to the Grand County Courthouse with Steve & a bunch of other ADV types and the railroad folks a few years ago to talk about reopening the pass. Very interesting and informative. I'll do my best to attend.

Lawsuit?

Couldn't we play like the greenies and sue the FS and BoCo for the right of way set up by the Feds when Wilderness was created? And get the costs paid for by them when they lose. Grand and Gilpin might join in.

Last year I contacted the AMA hoping our ex senator would be able to have an impact. I was not able to get a direct contact with him and I was referred to a regional rep that said to get involved at the local level. It sure would be awesome if there was a legal way over the divide.

It would be nice if AMA a national organization would step up as they have the power and influence in DC it make it happen. The road closer being local against what the Fed's say makes it in my mind an AMA issue.

Not being a local, and not knowing all the details of the closure (though I have kept up with the threads here over the years), it's always puzzled me why a 100-foot long tunnel was allowed to close a road!

Blast the thing out and turn it into a cut. Maintenance problem solved.

Too easy for a government agency, I suppose.

While being able to travel through the tunnel would be cool, all they have to do is unlock the gates at the top on Boulder Wagon Road and it's open. Really easy.

I've sent out a few messages...

...alerting COHVCO, RRMMC, Rising Sun 4x4 and Stay The Trail to this meeting.

Some of these groups may already know, but I would err on telling people again, vs not spreading the word.

Cheers!

I've been wanting to ride over the pass to Winer Park just as many others would. Winter Park would have a good increase in business from a lot of people. Dirt bikes, jeeps, mountain bikes. It's a win win for all.

There is a perfectly good road to use with a cheesy gate in front of it to get down the East side.. The USFS just doesn't see fit to let the plebes use it-"legally".

I don't know the wagon road on the east side, but isn't it a rough, steep route?

The road on the old railbed being opened at Needle's Eye Tunnel would mean access over the pass for everyone, which would seem like a valid argument to me.

Opening the road would surely increase the summer tourist dollars in Winter Park.
