Funny thing is that the Gas Company has access and can drive over to inspect it's gas line.

Seems with all the issues folks had getting around with the floods, and then ya got fires to deal with, having access over the mountain there is a safety issue in the public interest.

The plan is to do widening on the WESTBOUND twin tunnel next, possibly as early as this Spring. That means blasting, lane closures and delays.

Opening the BWR or Rollins would help provide an alternate, at least in the summer, for SOME of the traffic.

I take it you haven't actually ridden the BWR?

I have sent some info to some folks I know at the Denver Post in hopes of getting media coverage. The local media can be a very powerful lobby.

Update from Esteban (Steve):

I told the Rollins Pass Restoration Association people about the meeting last week. Both Grand and Gilpin county officials have been in touch with me over the last few months about Rollins Pass events and plans. An old friend of mine is now a Gilpin County Commissioner and in full support of opening Rollins. I have been requested to muster up people to go to the February 13th beginning at 5 pm in the Hearing Room on the Third Floor of the Boulder County Courthouse.

All the Grand and Gilpin county commissioners want it open, only Boulder commissioners and the county attorney Ben Pearlman stand in the way. (Of course Boulder officials are not honoring their word or the law.)

I went to a public meeting in Gilpin county last week and 5 to 1 are in favor of opening the pass and are also irritated with arrogant Boulder officials. I am still a player even though I am perma-banned from ADV.

Esteban

You rock Steve!
Thanks for the updates, Dan.

I've ridden this over to WP a few times. . . it's a good road and easy to ride. I have it on my calendar for the 13th

Steve Esteban seems like he knows a lot about this issue.

Is he really banned or joking?

Steve is really banned, and yes he is a big advocate of trail access.

Steve can still read the forums and I also keep him updated.

FYI: The Rollins Pass Restoration Association is getting its info from Steve, who is in touch w/ the County Commissioner.

I know certain friends will get mad at me, but I think Advrider is better with Estaban Verde.

Permabans are permanent. Go back and find the thread. A lot of crap went down. Until you read the thread, it's pointless to comment.
