Money for Mendo

Hey all,

I will be doing the money again for the trip, but why don't we hold off until we know if we can use the campsite.

At that time, you will be able to pay pal me at mendorally@comcast.net.

When Mootsuno gives the go ahead, you can open the financial floodgates. Hold off until then.

Can't wait!

It's going to be a little earlier this year, the first weekend in May.
Reason being, second weekend is Mother's day and the third the
Lake Pillsbury Basin closes to OHV riding.

Also, I'm going to reserve the site for five nights this year instead of four.
This means we'll have the site from Wednesday 4/30 to Monday 5/5.

For new people I should state that it's going to be at Lake Pillsbury in
the Fuller Grove group campground. The group site is limited to 50 people
but there's also an adjacent site with individual camp sites if we have a lot
of people.
If your staying in a trailer or an RV you'll be in the individual site and you'll
have to pay for that site yourself. However, you can hangout and eat meals
at the group site. (there only a couple of minutes apart)

You can check it out here.

And a map of the site:

I think we'll keep the price the same at $55 which will include dinner Thursday,
Friday and Saturday nights, group camping, soft drinks, beer and snacks.
And as previous attendees will tell you we don't skimp on food. The menu will be similar to the previous years.

If you're there Wednesday and Sunday nights you have to provide your own meals.

And just to let everybody know I spoke with PG&E (the campsite manager)
and it's possible the site may not open depending on the water supply.
I won't know for a while though. If it doesn't open I'll look for an alternate
site.

The site can't be reserved until March so we won't be collecting any money
until then.

OK, so it's started. If you have questions either post them here or PM me.

I nearly killed myself with some ultra-strong Jet Boil coffee outside Lassen last year.

SNOWBALL AND I WILL MAKE IT THIS YEAR.

Adventure Noob

Hello all-

My name is Matt. I'm new to the sport and am looking for a good crew to ride with.

I have been in the Penny Pines trails several times on solo trips and love the area. It would be great to explore with other riders!

Is there space for 1 NooB in the Mendo Rally 4? I can bring Beer!

Cheers

What are you riding Matt? Are you going to truck
up or ride up?

Oh, and you can bring beer even though we'll have a few kegs there.
Variety is good.

Hi Matt,

You've come to the right place and right trip if you want to hang out and ride with a great group of people regardless of what you ride.

Last year was my first time out and I was extremely impressed at how well organized this trip is. Mootsuno (Dean) and those who help him do a fantastic job at providing a great trip while keeping costs affordable. Thanks again Dean and crew!

You will find all sorts of bikes there from red stickered dirt bikes to big GS's with terrain to satisfy everyone. Please be aware that it is not legal to ride a non plated bike from the camp site.

Camping with this group is almost as much fun as the riding. Age range went from about mid 20's to 60's with the average in the 40's

Last year I didn't hit Penny on this trip but rode through on the Sheetiron a couple weeks after. Ever since I've wanted to go back and explore the area more.

You will have a blast.

Welcome

I have a XR650L I will probably bring up in the truck. Beer is no problem - my buddy has a brewpub here in the city. I can bring a variety of 5gal. kegs of the house brews for folks. Count me in - I'm stoked! Thank you.

Anyone going to do any rides before then? I pretty much have every other weekend available starting 2/22-2/23.

I would like to do an overnight trip soon if possible; let me know if anyone is available to meet up at one of the staging areas off Elk Mountain Rd for a day ride (or where ever...It's the only place I know). Shoot me an email or PM.

Cheers!

You'll be hard pressed to find a better group of people and a fair amount of girls who ride show up too. It's an ego-free zone of great people and all terrain for any level of challenge you are looking for and the food is awesome!
